Those would make killer shift knobs!

HAHA! They would for a very large hand! These are around 4" in diameter, so that would be a heck of a shifter...but I can make one of those too if I need to! Thanks for looking and commenting!

Your potpourri bowls are skillfully created pieces of art. Fine job capturing their beauty, mrova.

Wow! Thank you so much for that Annie! Woodworking has been my very serious hobby for about 40 years...photography has only gotten serious for about the last 8 years. Thanks again!

Nice work ! Did you carve the top also?

Thanks MTG for the comment. No, didn't carve the tops, they are ordered separately.

I like No 3 particularly. Did you intentionally want the reflections?

Thanks Dave! I didn't intentionally leave the reflections, and couldn't remove them, or, at least don't know how in LR. I also had whiteboards as reflectors off to the sides of the piece...and I didn't realize how much they would show up...probably won't do that again on these darker pieces. I was trying to get a little bit of light onto the sides.

I think maybe next you should do one featuring the crows, and still have a few hanging around if you need a model! Great Work and take care!

If they ever come up with a pewter top with crows, I'll sure make you one! But I have plenty of 'em hanging around my feeders!

Nice work. How long did they take to make?

Thanks for looking and commenting! Probably an hour and a half I'd guess total. Of course, you don't get to this in that time because of the steps involved in the finishing process, but probably that if you put all the time together.

Yup, a hummingbird and a butterfly in the middle of winter in Central Virginia!
My woodworking hobby fed my need to improve my photography skills and equipment a few years back because I needed better photos to post on my FB pages. These potpourri bowls are from African Mahogany with the pewter lids.

I photograph most of my work against a black background with post work in LR6. These were shot with my Canon 7dii with two flashes mounted on stands at about 45 degrees to the piece to my left and right.

Male downy woodpecker. The female doesn't have the red spot on the head. They're fun critters to feed.

I have had similar results using my 7DII, and only from photos on the CF card. I load them on my laptop using a card reader and when I notice them to be screwed up, I remove the card from the reader OR disconnect the reader from computer and re-connect, and they show up fine. Pins seem fine, I'm suspecting my card or the reader in my case.

I used a Nikon 70-200mm, one second exposure at f/8. PhotoPills is a smart phone app that can help you.

Two thumbs up for PhotoPills! Love how you can pinpoint any location and get exactly the direction where the sun/moon rises and sets.

Nicely done. Star trails are a lot of fun to shoot and StarTrax makes combining into final product very easy. I was so impressed, I sent the Developer $25.

One thing, I would suggest, assuming you use Lightroom, set the light temp to -26 to -38, gives the sky a bluer cast than that bronze/brown you always get. Then in a pixel level editing program like Photoshop, take time with the Healing Brush to eliminate the numerous diagonal airplane tracks. And, finally, try a graduated filter on the left to lower exposure for the sky glow.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions! I did use lightroom, went through the settings and even had the bluer cast but went with the more black appearance. Planes? They were ALL OVER the place. If you're not familiar with the area, this is so near the Norfolk International Airport, Oceana Navel Base, all sort of other military/coast guard activity. I had to stop taking the plane out after about 6 planes, man, that's tedious work! But, I learned a lot more about LR by taking out the ones I did. Had not thought about the graduated filter, I'll have to have a look at how to do that. I've heard and read a little about it, but never have used it.

Thanks again!

Went camping recently to First Landing State Park just a few miles north of Virginia Beach, VA. The way the land is oriented, from the beach you are looking due north, up into the Chesapeake Bay. I went out one night to create this image, made up of 89 shots - 15 second exposures every 5 seconds, settings made in my Canon 7dII, and used my Tokina 11-16 2.8. I think the ISO was at 800. Shots were stacked using StarStax.

The row of lights across the bottom are the lights of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. There's a gap in the lights on the left end, and another gap just right of center which are the two tunnels you go through under the bay. The orange glow above the lights and the white on the left side comes from the very thin layer of clouds that evening. Even with the clouds, I was amazed that the camera picked up the stars so well. Enjoy!
