I know this post will likely trigger the B&H faithful into attack mode, but I wish to tell my brief story.

Earlier this week, I noticed that one of the rubber feet from my Sirui W-2204 Tripod had somehow shaken loose and had been lost...yes...bad on me.

Precisely because numerous UHH members sing the praises of B&H, and I had purchased the tripod from B&H, and after searching their website without success for Sirui replacement rubber feet, I called-in. I spoke to 'Jacob'. I explained my problem and asked if he might know of a compatible replacement rubber foot.

Before I could even take my next breath, he gruffly responded "You'll have to call Sirui." So what was missing here? Well, no inquiry as to whether I had purchased the item from B&H, no mention of "I'm sorry we can't help you with this matter but...."

Just a gruff "You'll have to call Sirui," after which I politely replied "Thank You" and ended the call.

BTW, I called Sirui USA and was told that I must submit a service request on their website complete with serial number and bill of sale/receipt. I located the information, submitted a request and I haven't heard back from them yet.

Despite my displeasure with B&H, I did order another manufacturer's replacement product from B&H and it is now installed.

So I ask, where's the customer service? Where's the courtesy?

TY

Has any of the group had experience with the Bemyar gimbal head? I saw the. On face book and advertising it for $69.99 normally $175.00.
I just purchased the AF Nikon 200-500 lens and was thinking about this to replace my standard head on my tripod.
Thank you for any comments.

My equipment deserves a Wimberley. In my opinion even a $1400 lens deserves the best. Wimberley will lose very little of it's value for resale. And it is as smooth as a babies b _ _ _. Yes, it is that smooth.

I love this forum and hope you can assist with info on the following.
I have a D850 with a Tamron SP 24-70 G2 lens.
Off to Croatia soon and my friend said there are waterfalls to photograph.
I am looking at buying an 82mm ND filter for this lens, Hoya, Kenko or B&W.
My question is, do I get a fixed ND filter or a variable filter.
Will a variable ND filter set to minimum have a noticeable reduction in sharpness or quality compared to a simple UV filter when taking general landscape shots? I am thinking of leaving it on even when it is not needed and shoot normal shots then setting it to the highest ND value to take waterfall shots..
Alternatively I would just buy a good quality ND 10 screw on filter and attach it when shooting waterfalls.
I hope you understand what I mean and can assist in advising on quality differences between the two options. The aim is to get that soft blanket effect of the water whilst keeping the rest sharp.
Hope you can assist.

I use fixed ND filters. Simplifies exposures.

These were taken today at Yankee Stadium. Our seats were all the way down the 1st base line, just before the bleachers. Rather than take anything large, I took my Sony RX100 VI, which fits in the cargo pocket of my shorts. Shot at full 200 mm. The top is ISO 800 so that I could shoot at 1/1000, next is cropped, no editing other than cropping. 3rd image is ISO 200, 1/400, 4th cropped, no editing.
So, good enough? For me, it does the job.
I don't use my iPhone 6 for photography unless it's an "emergency," and I would have no idea how the new cell phones would do in this situation. However, my iPhone 6 is due to be replaced. Input please from anyone with a new cell phone on its capability would be appreciated, especially if you can reply with examples.

I use the Sony RX99V that has a 24-720 mm Zeiss lens, a pop up viewfinder, and offers manual and RAW shooting. Have never missed a shot yet. And best of all, it fits in my pocket allowing me to be hands free.

I may soon be offering for sale some Nikon DSLR outfits, but I am concerned about any USPS proscriptions about lithium-ion batteries. I believe that a battery can be shipped if installed in the camera, but what about extra batteries? Some time ago, after carefully packaging a camera outfit with two batteries that were each wrapped in bubble wrap, I was asked by the postal clerk if any lithium-ion batteries were in the package. When I said yes, I was told that the package would have to go via ground shipment. The package was going from Massachusetts to Arizona and took eight days to get there.

Having promised the purchaser that I would ship via Priority Mail initially, I had to contact him to tell him that it would be a week or so before it got to him.

What do others do? Any help will be welcome and appreciated.

I ship out EBay all the time with no issues. I pack them in their original holders. Never an issue. Never send one in a camera. Always separate.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a good selfie stick.
Would like to use it on days when I don’t want to lug my camera around with me.

Selfie sticks are being excluded in many meuseums and in many public spaces.

This is pretty obviously a case of accidental damage, not a product defect. Seems an insurance company would require evidence of accidental damage, and would not cover product wearout or functional failure.

On the other side, I would not expect a camera maker to do warranty repair on a product suffering accidental damage.

Yes. If the camera has been damaged, Nikon will not repair it for FREE under warranty. They only repair under warranty if they made a manufacturing error. They do not reward the photographer for there carelessness.

I am exploring HDR possibilities. Two questions:

1. which does a better job Lightroom Classic or Photoshop.

2. When I transfer images as layers from Lightroom under the edit function, photoshop will not allow either a focus stack or hdr because “the images had not been saved.” While I can go to my external HD, my preference woild be to everything in LR. What am I missing

Thanks.

My Sony HX99V does up to 6 stops HDR. It will give me two images. One is straight up and the other is a composite of up to 6 separate exposures and the camera then combines the best of each. Sweet.

S_ _ t happens. Especially to a lens that has seen some years. But fear not, a little dust should not effect the final result.

Nikon and their repair facilities won't touch gray market items for repair. You'd have to send the item back to the country of manufacture for repair. Nikon requires serial numbers for everything, and they know what was Nikon, USA, and what isn't.

Send it to country of origin only for warranty work. Otherwise most camera repair shops can repair Nikon.
