Prague and Budapest
Budapest is amazing for night photography! All along the river, fisherman's bastion, chain bridge, parliament and many others are all lit up. There is a hill where the citadel is for a great view of the city and river. You might start on the hill for sunset.

Hi Pierre, thanks for the comments. We were going to go to Brussels but changed it to Ghent after seeing Bruge. Those two cities were much more enjoyable than Amsterdam for us. It was our first time there...

You know, Amsterdam was very dangerous with bikes but the old town areas of Bruge and Ghent were not bad at all.

Yes, the canals were always open and people were sitting on the edge visiting, eating, etc.
