Without reflection. The 2nd photo is just "cleaner" to me and you are not distracted by the reflection.

Fuji X-T2 plus a Fuji 18-55.

I would agree with you except about the best you can do on that combo is $1500 which is $500 more than the OP wants to spend.

To stay within the OP's budget I think the Sony A6000 and 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 OSS E would fit the bill. Excellent camera, excellent lens, and well within his budget.

Not surprised it went so fast at that price. I've got that lens on a D3300 and it does an excellent job. It stays on the camera most of the time. Covers wide angle to moderate telephoto making it a great walk-around lens.

... I did notice on Amazon that the Xt2 was back down about $400 this morning. If they go back up to the same price, the XT-3 would be my first choice for sure.

No change in price at B&H or the other major internet dealers this morning.

My guess for the price increase on the X-T2 is they increased it $300 so they can have a big "sale" over Christmas with $300 off the X-T2, bringing it down to what has been the "normal" price for the last year or so.

I think you made a smart move. My next camera will likely be the Fujifilm XT-3. Have you noticed that B&H has recently raised the price of the XT-2 $300? Now the XT-2 and the XT-3 are priced the same at $1900 (with the kit lens). Why would anyone buy the XT-2 when you can buy the XT-3 for the same price?

I don't have the camera but I am wondering if it would be a good idea to reset all settings to factory defaults and go from there?

I personally don't see any glaring sharpness deficiencies in any of your photos. I did not look at the exif data, just scrolled through the downloads, and I would be happy with any of them. I'm sure others will have a different opinion and offer suggestions on how to improve them further.

Consider mirrorless cameras from Fujifilm - X-T2 (probably used) or the new X-T3. Great features, exceptional image quality, creative options.

I agree. With a budget of up to $3000 I would be looking hard at the Fujifilm X-T2 or the newly released X-T3. Both are superb cameras, get excellent reviews, and have an excellent selection of outstanding lenses.

If you were given the opportunity to trade your 18-105mm 'one' lens for the 18-135 (SEL18135) in the same condition, would you do it? (lighter, shorter, but no power zoom)

Yes. Although I love my nearly new 18-105 I like lighter and smaller for my needs.

Change file associations. To set File Associations in Windows 10/8/7, Open Control Panel > Control Panel Home > Default Programs > Set Associations. Select a file type in the list and click Change Program. You will be displayed a list of Programs along with a Description and the Current Default.

I don't like the description that accompanies this particular lens. I would be patient and find a lens with a higher rating, or pay the extra $150 for a brand new one in the box with the factory warranty . Sounds like "excellent minus" means the lens works great but it may be scratched up. If that doesn't bother you, buy it. You can always return it if you don't like what you see when you get it.

I'll bet if you sent that battery to Nikon they would replace it for free. What great customer service that would be.

Gentlemen please, is there any reason to insult each other? Indeed a 50mm AF-S and a D lens are different in the way they focus but equal in optical capabilities. No reasons to fight over that and no reasons for insults.
