Thats a downside for the D3100. It has liveview but you need to pull down a little lever on the back and it is too much of a pain. I really do not miss it though I like actually looking through the viewfinder.
There are going to be pros and cons to every camera I suppose it's whatever fits your needs and makes you comfortable.
I am new too and having a great time. There are very talented people here and are happy to help with almost anything. Have fun I look forward to see some of your work.
I seen the underwear too... I tried again this time taking it out of the picture and trying not to ruin the shot. I believe my step-daughter is now in labor so I need to work with what I have...
Those are great shots. I have never owned a Pentax but I see it's a great camera. I have Canon and Nikon, mainly because the lenses are interchangable with my film SLR's as I believe most people feel that way.
There are a few others out there too, and I am sure they take great pictures however I like the idea I can use what I already have.
Great pics though keep up the great work...
Thank you..hopefully they stop by again this time I will tell her to wear a darker shirt. I noticed it too however I was hoping it wouldn't be as visible... LOL par for the course. I appreciate the honesty.
I too have a D3100 and love it. I went through amazon.com for all of my extras (filters, batteries, memory cards, camera grip). When purchased together I saved a ton of money. Be careful when purchasing lenses for this camera. I already had one but I need to use manual so I just use the VR kit lens and love it. Here is a site that found helpful. Have fun and enjoy...

Love the last pic... In the first I believe it's missing something but still a nice shot.
These were taken with my CanonXT. I love this camera for snow...
Ok I will try again. I am trying to emphasize the pregnancy.
I am also attempting to resize without much luck.
It depends where you buy it. Best Buy sometimes comes with 2 lenses. shop around and definately go to a camera shop and look and get the feel of the cameras. There is a lot to choose from and all have different features. Look at the reviews as well. I know people love Ken Rockwell however there are other sites. Keep in mind a tripod is an essential piece of equipment.
It took me a month and made my decision because American of Madison had the D3100 on sale for $400. It is small though and I have small fingers plus I was able to get the extra batteries and grip and filters through amazon for under $100.00 so for me it was a win win..
Good Luck and happy hunting
After looking in the camera shops think about looking at Sams Club as well, sometimes they have cameras and lenses packaged together cheaper and are new not refurb. Make sure items on your list include a tripod and filters these can be purchased through amazon.com and shipping can be free.
I have a Nikon D3100 but the controls are small I believe some of the men on this site like the D5100 or D7000 worth checking those out too.
I also heard Olympus had a new camera package out with 2 lenses for $800.00 but I would look for reviews online.
Good Luck and have FUN, I know I enjoy my hobby...
I love this pic, it would also look cool if you vignette it. This brings all the focus to the birds and will bring cool blue and green in the water.
Great pic
I am new and do read the posts. If anyone wants to
*hi-jack* my posts that is fine by me. I am here to learn and appreciate the help.
I thought I was the only one who hates people re-doing my pics, my cousin does this constantly on Facebook and it annoys the heck out of me, but to save face I say nothing.
Thank you everyone for the help, us newbies apprciate it.
