I saw those and enjoyed them, but would not have thought that those images are what is considered to be "a normal frame without distortion".

I am not sure what you are saying.

What does a "normalized" 360 image look like ? Anything like the examples below ?

No, not at all. Check out my images in a post above. One of the things I love about the 360 camera is I can take 1 image and manipulate it about 5-6 different ways.

I have the Insta 360 x3. This is my third 360 camera. I love it. I have taken it all over, Africa, Cuba, Italy, Iceland. It is fun to play with. While I am good with a single image, I am still trying to master videos.

Here are a few of my images.

Ok. I’m in. Sign me up for your PS workshop, Roni. 😁

Ok. It would be so fun.
another fun location is Cape Cod. I stayed in Hyannis for a PPA conference and it was a great location.

Long Island is another location. I live about 10 minutes from a Ukranian Monastery. It is an old Gold Coast mansion, they have a retreat house we could rent.

Will float this idea, well knowing that there are logistical and financial issues, but!….

What are the chances of arranging a “Convention” someplace where we could all meet up for a meet and greet and educational interaction?

We could have tech workshops and photo critiques. We could have OEM’s, camera stores, printing shops and other photo suppliers as sponsors to help with the costs.

Could become an annual thing, would probably start out slow but I could see it growing into quite something! That’s a convention I would be happy to attend.

I love this idea. I would be willing to attend, depending on when and where. I can teach some photoshop stuff & using my 360 camera.

More thoughts on Pangolin and the Great Migration: First, any trip to Africa for someone who hasn't been is likely to be one of their most memorable (if not the most memorable) trip they can take. But personally, I am not a big fan of going for the great migration type trip. The wildebeest are very unpredictable and when they make a run for the river, it is very hard to get photos plus all the drivers race to get their cars in the best position (from what I have heard). Personally, that would not be my choice. I would much rather do one of the other trips.

I completely agree with your suggestion. I have been to Africa 3 times, Tanzania, Namibia and Kenya. I loved them all but I think Kenya was my favorite. We did try different locations for the migration across the river but it never worked out. We did pay for an off road pass in Kenya, which was a huge bonus. We watched the 5 cheetah brothers sleeping for a few hours. When they finally got up and went for a kill, one of the brothers got a kill and all the guides in trucks surrounded him. The others couldn't even get past the trucks. Since we had an off road pass, we were able to open a spot for the other 4 to see where the one with the kill was. Some of the guides are just not wildlife friendly and will try to disrupt the animals.

I was with Federico Veronesi, a very well known young Italian man who lives in Nairobi. He has his own tent at the private mara bush camp and his own customized truck. I have remained friends with our guide, Arnold, for the past 3 years. He works for Sunworld safaris. He knows exactly where the animals are, he lives there. He knows the behaviors and the locations. I highly recommend them.

There are many tours to Africa, if I were to go again, I would chose one that lives and works there, instead of one that goes a few times a year.

I have many youtube videos. Here is the link, scroll down to the Africa shows.

[quote=jerryc41. And we wonder why photographers in general are given a hard time.[/quote]

I live on Long Island. The snowy owls come to Jones Beach in the winter months. They hunt at night and sleep during the day. It never disapppoints to see photographers with LONG lenses & tripods, trying to flush the owls to get them in flight.

This past winter I saw one, the bird flew, and several guys with the long lenses & tripods climbed over the signs that say *don't walk on the dunes* My friend and I called the DEC (New York State Department of Environmental Conservation) to report them. Many have ruined different areas on Long Island. There is a lavender farm out east. I used to go there, there was no charge to get into the fields. I always bought Lavender. Then some guys came in a van with their cameras, tripods and models. The farm started to charge more.

It certainly ruins it for other photographers.

I know they are not exactly the same, but Bridge is a DAM manager and I like some things about it BUT it's as if the two programs were written by different companies. Stars, Picks, Colors, added in LR don't appear in Bridge and vice-versa.

In Bridge you can have ratings. You can find this in the edit>preferences.

I only use Bridge. I have been using photoshop/bridge before Adobe came out with Lightroom. It never was easy for me to switch. I could not understand going from Lightroom to Photoshop and back to Lightroom.
All my raw images are in Bridge. If I make changes in Photoshop and save it as a jpeg I can always go back to the original raw image. Just right click on image>Develop settings>clear settings.

You have some great images there, what a lovely selection. If you altered that somewhat, keep many of the motion across the screen or slow zooms in place but possible cut out the page curls and slide across transitions etc. then you may find people would not feel so concerned about the transitions. You could still use many of the image motions you had there but use simple dissolves or quick cuts in the editing, which keeps it a punchy show without suffering from transition distraction for the viewer. I think you did a very nice job and nice music choice.

Thanks for the kind words. I have done many, many slide shows. I like the ones I am currently doing best. It shows off my images without making the slide shows to long.

Looking at your work, I see you have used Proshow in its most basic or simplest form, just simple dissolves. It is a fantastic programme and capable of so much more than that with moving the images etc. during the slide show, rather than simple static images dissolving. Sort of like owning a Porsche 911, and this is just starting it up and shifting into first gear and moving forward a few feet in your drive way, compared to what it is capable of.

I've had the Gold first then upgraded to the Producer and used it for many, many years. It is capable of creating amazing slide shows with all sorts of X and Y moving and spinning and overlapping motions, to really put your slide show way out in front of simple dissolves. However, that does require a lot of time and effort in creating such shows.

It was very sad to see it end, I must say. I've not found anything as good to replace it, up to now, that was as easy to use. Good luck with your dilemma, I hope you get it to work. I keep it on my older computer and leave it that way, to do anything I want on the old system.

Hi,
Here is a ProShow Producer show I did 6 years ago. I did use transitions, when I presented this at libraries and camera clubs, most said they felt the transitions were distracting from the images.

Photopia is very similar to ProShow Producer. It has the transitions you prefer, large selection of music and works great.

In the early years of me using Proshow Producer, I did use the different transitions. The feedback that I got was that it was too distracting from the images. I have done these kinds of shows for many different camera clubs. I want people who view these to focus on the images, not on the transitions. It was a choice I made to keep it simple.
