You might want to check out Induro tripods. I have a Gitzo and an Induro, and the Induro works just fine. If I had had it before the Gitzo, not sure I would have the Gitzo now.

When I'm on the road, I save everything on 3 separate external hard drives. Since I am photographing from before sunrise to after sunset, there is really no time for processing if I want to sleep. I save the processing for when I am back home.

I have Gitzo and Induro tripods. The Induro are about half the cost of the Gitzo, and I consider them nearly as good. Get a look at the Induro if you get a chance.

Another recommendation for the canon 400 mm f/5.6 lens. Sharp, fast, and relatively light weight. Also in your price range. I have both the 400 and the 100--400, and I prefer the 400 for birds in flight.

I have both bought and sold with KEH. Always felt like I was treated right.

I have the 600mm on a crop sensor, 7 D II. I also frequently shoot out my car window. I find that if I get out of the car, the subject moves off and I don't get an image. The wildlife seem to be so used to seeing cars in Yellowstone, that they aren't bothered by them much (within reason).

I had cataract surgery 2 years ago in both eyes (different days). The improvement in my sight is amazing. Really only need glasses to read (close focus). Really glad I had it done. Eye doctor said I have 20-20 vision in one eye and 20-25 in the other.

I visit Yellowstone twice each fall and I recommend the longest telephoto lens you have or can get access too. I use a 600mm and frequently need to add a TC.

I have the 7 D II and like it a lot. I use it with my longest lens to photograph wildlife in Yellowstone. Highly recommended.

I was born in early 1941. I vividly remember to this day, when I was 3, my dad was drafted and I watched him walk down the sidewalk and turn the corner out of sight to report to the army. Fortunately, they found out that he was a steno clerk and knew shorthand (so they could dictate letters to him), so they kept on the base in Texas. (wonder how many people reading this know what shorthand was)

I remember all the things on the posted list.

I recommend Canon. I have 2 full-frame Canon bodies and 2 crop frame. Most of my landscape images are made with the 5Ds r, and most of the wildlife images are with the 7dII. The lenses I use most are the 11--24 and the 600. The 24--70 II f/2.8 also gets a lot of use. The 100--400 II gets a lot of use. I also use the 70--200 f/4 a good bit. I think these lenses are excellent.

The 200--500 would not overlap your other lenses, and gives you more length than several of the other recommendations. I go to Yellowstone every fall twice and Mt. Rushmore once, and my 600mm lens is probably my most used. If you are interested in photographing wildlife, I definitely recommend the 200--500 over the other suggestions.
