I do have a Siamese girl and boy, as well.
I, too, shoot animals for two shelters. My best shots are head shots from a low angle and shot from about ten feet away. Please don't ask what focal length I use for my zoom lens.
I do, mostly the kitties and the eyes have it with felines.
A good pic is the start for our orphans to find forever homes.

The Cybershot DSC-HX20V is an amazing handful of camera. I also, own an NEX6.
I "throw" the little camera in my pocket, when I don't want the larger camera with the changeable lenses.
You will have to try to take a bad shot with the little camera, if you are so inclined ;-).
One suggestion is that you buy a screen saver for the LCD. I put a few scratches in my screen, before I got the saver.
The two automatic settings are very good, but the other shooting modes make the Cybershot much more than a point and shoot.
