I know it is beside the point when taking about a NEW lens but ...... Dust in the lens does not effect anything unless it is excessive. Dust specks will never show in a photo.

Just goes to show that Consumer Reports isn't always correct!!

They have to satisfy advertisers and contributors too!!

That's right! Every magazine on the planet is bought and paid for to some extent. Especially reviews. Do you really think a reviewer is going to bad mouth, even if it is justified, a product of a sponsor ..... Get real! The only reviews I trust are user reviews and even then you have to be careful as some reviews may be deliberate plants.

I purchased Photoshop Elements 11 three months prior to the upgrade to 12 and they tell me that I do not qualify for a free upgrade. I will upgrade, but it will never be to another one of Adobe's products. :(

Adobe believes they are the best and seem to have the demand for their software. Their attitude is they DO NOT have to deal and to an extent they are right. While the amateur photographer gets the boot the masses are still standing in line waiting to lay their money down for an Adobe product. Just the way things seem to work in any business. If you like their software you must play their game. Refusing to buy another Adobe product because you do not like their upgrade policy may give YOU a warm feeling of satisfaction but will do little to change anything. Sorry but that is reality. I do agree with you that while Adobe makes some top notch software their policies can be hard to swallow, especially this cloud BS! In the long run is is all about $$$ and how much they can extract from customers and yes even if they offend or lose a certain percentage of customers it is the name of the game.

Is there anyone left, as far as reviewers go, which can and will give an honest and truthful review of a camera without someone feeding the reviewers wallet and pulling his/her strings? Seems like now a days it is tell the masses anything, even lie, just sell the cameras.

Sounds like if you value your camera you would send it to Canon, even if you have to pay for the repair yourself. With all the bad reports why New Egg would continue to use Precision Camera is beyond me. Most likely explanation is $$$. Canon is going to know how to repair your camera and will most likely have the parts. Ask your self this question .... is getting warranty repair worth possibly having your beloved Canon camera FUBAR'D buy a company who already has a bad rap for doing so? Do yourself a favor and stick with Canon Repair or you may really regret not doing so. NOT WORTH THE RISK, IMHO!

Hello, fellow clickers, I have been using a Nikon D70 since the late 90's and want to upgrade and was thinking of the D300. I hope to eventually go to something like the D600 but for now the D300 would be a big step up. Thanks.

I upgraded from the Nikon D200 to the D300 about a month back and have never regretted it. The D300 is much superior to the D200 in almost every way. I have used the D300 with a 35mm 2.8 lens and was able to shot without flash indoors with ISO 400~800 and at night and never took the ISO past 1600. The noise at 1600 was not bad at all and after using Paintshop Pro X6 and Topaz DeNoise you would never know it was ever there. Read up on the D300 and you will find it a fantastic camera that can be had for around $650 body only. Don't let people tell you because the D300 is 5+ years old it is no longer worthy of consideration. The D300s added video, extra button on the back for live view and dual memory slots ( Compact and SD ) but is essentially still a D300.

I use Perfectly Clear 1.71 with Corel Paintshop Pro X6 and it works great most of the time. It will occasionally over expose a photo and then there are times it appears to have done very little.

I live in a suburb of Detroit Michigan and about 3 weeks ago bought a mint condition Nikon D300 with less than 3000 shots for $600. Got the original box and all which can with it. 2 weeks ago I bought the same Tamron lens as yours in mint condition for $200.

Does anyone have any experience with Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC MACRO HSM lens? I would appreciate your feedback, as I am considering a purchase?

Many thanks in advance,
Jim

I use the Tamron AF 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro with excellent results. I would think the Sigma performance should be very similar although my lens has no internal motor.

Crawford's Superstore via Amazon is selling the Nikon D700 for only $3,399,99. GET REAL! LOL

On eBay they sell for $1000 ~ $1500

The Nikon D700 is an excellent camera and built just like the D300. Built like a TANK! I use the D300 and would love to get a D700 if and when funds allow .............

I agree, especially since the price is very low for all that is offered. Anyone interested should ask the op for photos showing the serial #'s. The photo posted looks like it's from a nikon catalogue.

Now that's the cop in my skeptical thinking! If the op truly has a health issue and needs a quick sale then someone should jump on this, but there are red flags.

I agree. The web is full of SUCKER BAIT if one is stupid enough not to be cautious. ( The scammers count on this ) This may very well be a real deal but $700 is a lot of money to take a chance. I would do the following minimum!

1: Ask for photos of the camera with all that is included in the sale.

2: Ask for a photo of the serial number

3: Ask the seller to call you and talk with them.

If any one of these 3 can not or will not be done, run away.

Just my opinion! :)

I have used a Nikon D200 for a couple years and recently bought a D300. The D300 certainly holds it own. Excellent and most capable camera. Coming out with a new model every 6 months is crazy. All they seem to do is add a couple features or move/add a button. Essentially the new model is 95% of what the old model was. Just like the D300 vs D300s. Don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with the D300s but no worth an upgrade over the D300 IMHO. No cutting edge technologies. I will stick with my great Nikon D300 which is weather sealed and built like a tank.

was it zoomed all the way out to 250 mm and was the fstop wide open . if it was buy it . the edges look not to bad . maybe you were stopped down . I don't know , but if you were not , stopping down and just zooming to 200 mm can only improve the edges . and it's not going to brake the bank . look at it this way you can sell it in two years from now for at least $100 or may be a lot more . I don't know but I think you can't go wrong with the purchase

I was zoomed to the maximum 250mm. Aperture was F9. I redid the photo later at F13 and the results were even clearer. I have bought the lens. It is about 2 years old and in mint condition. Still sells on Amazon for $330. Paid $200. I am completely satisfied. Much more useful than the 35mm prime I had. You are right. If I back off to 200mm the results are excellent. The photo here I have the camera on a tripod as at 250mm it is all but impossible to hand hold it.
