Been to Saint Elmo and that very spot 25 years ago. Beautiful area. Nice pic.

Don’t use the Aperture Priority setting. It will change other settings that can affect the focus (like ISO) that can effect noise. Use Manual setting.

I use Aperature Priority all the time and turn off auto ISO the only thing that changes then is shutter speed. Never have a noise issue this way.

I believe it is known as Virginia Creeper at least here it is. Rather an invasive plant as it can smother trees but it does produce nice brilliant reds early in the fall season. I like these too.

Why not just call it a 1/3 camera or a 1/3-sensor camera since most of their sensors are about 1/3" in size? After all, we have 4/3 cameras (which doesn’t make any sense to me). Trying to get away from this cellphone or smartphone nonsense. Making a phone call is the least that those devices do.

Why does this seem to matter so much to so many? Do you feel duped into spending a ton of money on traditional gear? Do you feel threatened by phone cameras? Do they devalue your work? So again what is the purpose of having posts like this???

Sorry but I only find it gross. This is a snapshot IMHO.

As far as being a snapshot how else could you get this shot? So many critical people these days and many need to filter themselves. Never saw the OP ask for a critique of the image. And being in the moment does not allow for setting up a tripod and asking the scene to pause while you get set up is not going to happen so you take the shot as best you can. How would you have approached the scene?????

No it's a garter snake. Not poisonous or harmful to humans

Not a garter snake. They have stripes that run the length of their body. The looks like a bull snake to me.

You are like a little Gestapo agent. Do you keep tabs on people who post inquiries? Why would you??

Because some people ask the same thing over and over until they get an answer they are looking for. Some are trolls some are lonely. The forum is cluttered enough without having the same question asked again by the same person. And some honestly forgot...

I have used landscape pro and it did a good job. I just don't agree with replacement of the sky in an image. I will wait for the sky to happen even if it requires multiple visits to the same location.

Personally I like HDR images and more saturation. I would not change what I like to create for no one. I did not see your previous images and even so would not have tried to tell you which way to process.

So many in photography think they have all the answers on how an image should look and they try and project their styles to others work thus cloning themselves. The best advice I can give is be true to yourself, your vision of the scene, before you snap the shutter.

I march to the beat of a different drummer than most but that is what makes a style. I have success selling my images most HDR for publication. Magazines like crisp saturated images and HDR prints well in magazine sizes.

I looked at your previous images and the have pop without being overcooked. This current set are nice but to me somewhat dark with shadows being overpowered by highlights. Just my opinion and what I like to look at.

Do what you want to do with your images not what someone else does...

F16 I use when I want the scene to be in focus more. The background. Mid and foreground. I use f8 to f11 on ther landscape scenes with no foreground interest. I go below f8 when scenes have low light such as the blue or golden hours.

Remember that over f11 shutter speeds can slow quite a bit and you may need a tripod to eliminate motion blur.

Depending on what you are intending to convey will determine what f stop to use also.

First you say the camera survived thanks to the hood, then you extol the camera's durability. Can we assume that you have no clue?

Why do people like you see the need to post a snarky reply such as this? I have no clue why they do it maybe you can enlighten us?

The b&w is by far the most dramatic, but the color version with processing adds a dimension of "old and new" that I find appealing. My biggest issue with the b&w is the halo around the building - could be an interesting effect but I don't think it works here for me. Overall, I love images like this of buildings, patterns, age, etc. and your work is very well done. As far as your request for which image works best absent personal opinion, I'm afraid I can't make that distinction - that one is yours to make!

The color version has the halo also which was used to create the b and w.

Is it what YOU wanted in the end? Is it how YOU envisioned it? Do YOU like it? See too many worried about what others think. Shoot and prowess to your liking not to someone else and you develop your own style and brand in this manner.

Too much bickering amongst peers about what is the "correct" way to process and shoot. What works for one will not for others. All our tastes are different and so is our artistic designs we create behind the lens. I put little faith in online critique.

That being said I personally like it as it is. I am an HDR creator too and personally I like what you did with it. Too many pixel peep images at 100% and printed images are not viewed this way. Good work.
