On line shopping is growing more everyday.

Yes, but now that the states that collect sales tax are now collecting from online sales, retail stores in states without sales tax are looking pretty good. With the worst of the pandemic behind us, brick and mortar shopping facilities are making a bit of a comeback.
As I said, I live near Delaware and DE has no sales tax, and the Best Buy is about a mile from the state line, and they have a nice camera department. I'll be going there soon to pick up a new lens.

Is it just my local store or does Best Buy want "out" of the camera business?

Maybe it IS just my local store (Simi Valley, CA). I was just in there today and there were literally only THREE cameras on display, a Sony A6000 and two entry-level Canon DSLRs. Not a single camera from any other manufacture, even the digital camcorders were nowhere to be seen. A few bags, a few tripods, that was pretty much it.

Compared to the store closest to my work (Woodland Hills, CA), where they have literally the complete current production line of Nikon, Canon and Sony, from pocket point-and-shoots to the highest-end DSLRs, plus the full lineup of lenses for all three. For Nikon, just to name one, everything from the 50mm f1.8G all the way to the "Holy Trinity" and even the 200-500 is on display.

So, maybe, it's a regional thing. Maybe my town isn't as affluent as where the other store is located. But, MY store, at least, looks like it isn't interested in selling cameras anymore. I have two independent camera stores near me. One closer to my work, but I don't get a good "vibe" when I'm in there, and the other store, which is about a half-hour drive in the opposite direction, but where they really know me and appreciate my being there. Fewer and fewer independent stores are still around. Many disappeared because of the "big box" stores, but even some of those, like MY Best Buy, are phasing it out.

Sad.
Is it just my local store or does Best Buy want &q... (show quote)

I don't shop at my local Best Buy, I make the 30 minute drive to south of the state line. I live not too far from the PA DE state line and the Talleyville DE store is my go to Best Buy. Delaware has no sales tax and that Best Buy has an excellent camera department.

Still sticking with Sony...for now.
If I had to choose today...Fuji...I like options...they have it.

6 months ago...I'd have said Canon...but the way they treat their customers by closing off lens choices...no thanks.

It's an attitude I refuse to invest in.

Obviously, you don't understand the reasoning behind Canon's action. I guess piracy is ok for some. By the way, there's absolutely nothing wrong with sticking with Sony. They manufacture fine products, that they designed themselves, or bought the rights to.

"Common sense isn't..." has been my pet saying for many, many years. I started using it when I was in college and it had to do with the class's understanding of the Fortran programming language. I learned Fortran from a MIT textbook called "The Fortran Coloring Book", and as humorous as the book was, it made learning Fortran so easy it was like common sense. Apparently I was the only one in the class who heard of the book. I aced the course and didn't even have to take the final, just show up and sign it. It wouldn't have affected my final grade either way. I remember that class quite well. The teacher was a very attractive and intelligent woman from Venezuela named Bianca. She looked a lot like the race car driver, Milka Duno. "Common sense isn't..." has been with me since then. Thank you for your response, it made me smile.

You do realize that common sense isn't all that common.

I'm quite happy with my R5 and R7. I still use my D850 and 5D mk 4 occasionally and a few of my other DSLR'S, but my R5 and R7 are my go-to cameras.

There is a time and place for everything. Why do you insist on putting up lewd posts. If you know that some members will complain maybe you should print them and take them to your fav pub where they will be appreciated?

What exactly is lewd about that post? If you are so squeamish that an adult female in a swimsuit offends you, maybe you should consider seeking professional counseling.

It is a bit on the heavy side if you are used to smaller lenses, but it is an excellent lens for the cost. I'm very happy with mine.

Excellent photo. I'm considering buying that lens for my R7. Your results are another check in the go for it column.

No, this is me. I hate to hear about scientists looking for a new planet to inhabit. The human race should be allowed to die off like all the other species. Overall, people are horrible. "Life isn't fair." Of course not, mainly because people make it unfair. If people acted as they should, we could be living in paradise on earth.

You must be a big hit at parties. So full of hate and anger. Is this what happens to people who spend so much time on uhh? As for the human race dying off thing, or not dying off, that's one of the things that separates us humans from other species.

Think about this for a minute. Humans ... they've made your life pretty easy!
