agree, i5 is fine, i have a 2011 imac. ram is my complaint. I keep running out of ram with 16 gb. I cannot upgrade to 32 or 64. What i end up doing is shutting down my browser, and sometimes other programs. seems to help. now i also have a macbookpro i7, 16 gb ram, SSD, i have no slowdowns at all using PS on same pictures,
if I were to buy another Imac i would get the 27", i7, 32, 500SSD. I don't put anything but software on my drive. Boot time is 9 seconds, takes 30 seconds on my older mac.

i just printed up some pictures my daughter sent me, they were of the grandkids. I printed 4x6's. They cane out quite good, actually very good. As these were not staged shots where one might think about stuff in the background, garbage can, another person, car, etc. so i did my usual, cropped in. it didn't take much zooming in to ruin the picture, making it fairly useless as a print. i took my own pictures, could easily zoom in 6x, the resultant picture was clear, perfectly usable. so yes you can get great pictures from a cell phone, not saying you wont, and are perfectly ok for what most people might print for casual shots, ie a 4x5. One advantage of a cell phone is depth of field with the 3mm lens of cell phone. most everything is in focus, but forget bokeh. but photography is what the user wants. the vast majority people are perfectly fine with a cellphone shot. they are very unlikely to do any post processing.

i have calibrated my imac monitor several times. i also set up my lighting so that no light source faces directly on the screen. i do have a window but that didn't impact much. but what i found works best is the default display settings and setting up photoshop with th profile for my canon Pro100. my prints are virtually dead on and great, . I do add some brightness to most pictures. by the way, when you view your pictures, do so in good light.

i7 for sure, but be careful there are different i7's. i would get 32 gb ram. for photographers, as you get new cameras file sizes are getting bigger, so ram is important. for me 512 gb ssd is fine, i have external ssds. As for brand, i've had hp, lenova, but i really don't have a preference. asus looks ok to me. but i have a mac. the display is unbeatable, important if you do a lot of photos processing. As for reliability, i look at my computer graveyard in my basement. 2 compaqs, 1 HP, 1 Lenova, 2 Macs. i am a very heavy user of laptops. the are on nearly 10 hours a day. longest life of a individual laptop, mac-10 years. shortest compaq, 2 years, lenova 2 years, i have a mac now which will be three years,
what will be looking at if i need another one, probably just get a non mac, i7. why? well one thing about having a computer that lasts a long time is eventually the operating systems wont run on the old machines. second the capability of the ne machines continues to get better, so makes me want a new on every couple of years. oh, the number of dead machines listed are for 2 users. my wife has now switched to usin a tablet, no longer has a PC.

My point being the number of interactions between the Trump organization, and members of the campaign committee is just very concerning to me. over 140 direct interactions, several people in jail, some pending, and who know what has been redacted. Just leaves me wit a very uneasy feeling. But I cant do anything about it. I'll just have to leave it to those that can.

for those with older computers, older processors, <16gb ram, and large mb files, be prepared to wait a while for the process to finish. Some things to try to speed things up, shut down your browser, shutdown all other programs an unrelated apps, if you had some layers open, flatten your image first. lastly, get a cup of coffee.

went hrough battery issue, only got 100 or so shots. bought OW+EM batteries, still only got a 100 shots.i happened to notice it didn't take too long for the lights on the charger to say the battery was charged. I decided to buy a new OEM charger. Problem solved. batteries now charge and i get over 500 shots. I charged all my batteries again, and the seem yo be working fine.

I use YouTube a lot. Much of what you ask can be answered by watching videos. For instance I was watching a video on how a digital camera sees color. I would suggest just typing in "how does a digital camera see color" and you will likely get several videos on the topic. Another example is how does photo paper affect the final product quality.
