I am in the process of making photo books for each family member of their family growing up as well as a couple for me of collections of landscapes and birds. That may preserve some of my photos. Short of that the photos will have no significance for others. I had little interest in my parents's hobbies and my children will likely feel the same.

I ordered a printer from B&H last week, delivery was scheduled for Wed., August 3rd with Fed-ex. At 7 p.m. last night I got an e-mail stating that my package had been delivered. Strange, because I have a ring doorbell and it showed no activity and there was no package at my door. I called B&H first thing this morning to let them know that I had not received the package and they said they would look into it. I also checked with many neighbors in case it had been delivered somewhere else by mistake. B&H sent me an e-mail stating that Fed-ex said it was delivered - end of discussion. So, am I out $700? Neither company seems to be concerned about this. I have been ordering from B&H for almost 20 years. Last month I spent $5,000 on a new camera. Do I have any recourse on this matter?

I have had that happen several times. And received it the next day. For some reason, the driver records delivered when it is not actually delivered??? I've often wondered if they do that to make the expedited delivery time. Wait it out for a day and see what happens.

I retired early 11 years ago after being an RN for 30 years. I thought I would miss working but not at all. The paperwork required just about buried me. I inactivated my license never to work in the health care field again. My life has turned to dogs, biking, gardening and photography. It's a good life. One that I would not want interrupted by work.

So a few more BIFs

Bees are good practice for BIF. And you nailed it! Nothing at Canella lake near you? I saw that there were a couple of Black-belly Whistling Ducks in Tubac a week or so ago- were you able to see those? Not much here either.

I have been a photographer for a long time, but I've never done any night sky photography, except for fireworks. Would someone with experience discuss lens choice? Milky way? Northern lights? Thanks in advance.

Check out Kristine Rose Photography on Facebook. She offers free 3 sessions on night photography- the sessions are a bout an hour long and live. It covers everything you need. I think she is starting one soon. If you miss the live version you can go back and watch the taped session. She also has a one person exhibition going so you can see her work- it is spectacular. She also leads several photo excursions in different locations.

Personal preference. It is a distraction to me. The row of cactus draw my eye in but then my eye keeps wandering back to the branch that becomes intrusive. And I noted that there is a row of cactus under the branch that are barely noticeable and the branch gets in the way again. Having said that the branch does add drama. With or without the branch it is an engaging image.

Just received my R7 took it out for a test run, really like it. However, when I downloaded my images Adobe PhotoShop would not open RAW images. No problem with jpeg. Any idea why? I checked and they are RAW images not cRAW.

The R7 has been updated in ACR and LR and you can edit in PS. I thought the same as you and then updated the Adobe
suite and the update was there.

am watching to learn what mgp is.

Look into Leica w fixed lenses. Q2 camera with lens is 1 1/2 pounds, around 48 MP full frame. And there are other camera choices within that brand.

Ed- I have the R7 camera and it performs very well except in low light situations where the R6 excels. The R7 is the perfect size and weight, nice deep grip, large enough to access all the on camera controls easily, and customizable.

I use it with the 100-500 mm lens and extender. Then it isn't so light anymore. You are getting into the " 5 pound range" with camera, lens, extender. And with that combination you will Not be able to go below 300 mm because of mechanical/physical limitations. So if that is a deal breaker for you then you can continue to use your 100-400 mm lens or look at the new R 100-400 mm lens which gets you back in the "lightweight" range.

I haven't found anything about the R7 that is a deal breaker for me. I got it as a backup to the R6 to take out when the birds are further away or I want to lighten up.

Forgive me if I sound a little stuck-up. I prefer to go into a store like B&H and fondle the camera. I fell in love with many but when it is not available I won’t put my name down and wait. As good as the camera is, I still won’t buy it. So I’m happy with my 5D and if and when the R7 becomes available I might buy it.

You don’t sound stuck up!! I didn’t see or touch the R7 before buying - it’s smaller than expected (specs don’t always tell the story) but has a nice deep comfortable
grip. In times past it didn’t seem so difficult to buy the camera you wanted but with chip and supply issues it’s getting harder and the waits longer. And no large camera stores within 130 miles of here.

When I get most phone calls, my caller ID indicates, "Spam Risk." I pick up and hang up. Occasionally, I'll take a chance and answer. Then I get someone trying to sell me something or a politician asking for my vote. It's too bad companies are allowed to make random phone calls. Sure, it provides jobs for people, but that's no excuse.

I have a great call blocker that no longer blocks calls. Well, it does block my phone when I call home, but it doesn't block unwanted calls. It's the CPR 10000. If you have a recommendation for a good blocker, I'd like to hear about it.

I have an Apple phone and it has a feature that silences all calls from people that aren't in your contact list. Apple flashes the call across the screen when it comes in and then takes it directly to VM. It's great not to hear all of those calls anymore. I don't know what phone you have but maybe you have it too and don't realize it. Google it.

Hi, I think I’ll switch back as soon as a new model of the R6 comes out! I gave all my Canon gear to my sister and switched to Sony! I tried so hard to like the touch screen but it’s a real pain. Canon makes it so much more fun to use.

Lucky sister! The R6 has a touch screen that isn't so sensitive it's a pain. I use it for changing menu items mainly but not for focus. I think the R3 full frame is Canon's flagship and came after the R5/R6 series. I am waiting for a R mount 70-300 f 4 extender compatible for the R7 if Canon ever goes there. Wait on.

Good combo for R7. I have the Sony A74 and am waiting for a new Canon full frame. I just hate the Sony menu!! The A74 is a great camera, but somehow I just find Canon so much easier to use.

I agree. Canon has been easier to use, easier to hold and handle. I just got the R7 so haven't set it up yet. But I did a preview of the video and it is great. Auto focus in video mode works really well catching focus quickly. I was very glad to see that because there isn't time for fiddly video. I have the R6 and love it.

Months ago I was thinking about the R7/10 before they got here - but then I got the Sony RX10m4 and started using it - all thoughts about enlarging or updating my Canon gear were squashed ! Still trying to think of GOOD reasons for keeping my Canon stuff .......So, I am wondering if you have used the Sony ?? or, thought about it .
.

The only Sony I have used is the a6000. That was some time ago. There were things I liked about it and things I didn't like most all cameras. The things I didn't like about it was the ergonomics and menu system and battery power so I never followed Sony's line further. I can't fault them for image quality though. They got that right! The one camera that I love it the Canon R6. And so I decided on the R7 as backup and longer reach for those far off birds. I can interchange the lenses between the two cameras and the menu systems are similar.
