I have a Canon 7D but have just purchased the 7D Mark II. I got it for a better than the black friday price and the dealer threw the Canon kit and a memory card. I have not unpacked the camera as I am not sure if I am going to keep it. I would like to know from those who have upgraded from the 7d to the 7d Mark II what you think of the 7D Mark II compared to the 7D. Did you find the 7D Mark II perform significantly better than the Mark II?

Much better AF and it can withstand higher ISO's.

Even a simple question thread like this goes down the drain. No wonder people want to abandon the UHH ship. It's too bad, because there are some very knowledgeable people here.

.... and both MT and SS are very knowledgeable indeed ..... they just don't seem to like each other much.

I am going to let my subscription to Popular Photography expire. Why: It seems to be getting thinner and thinner every issue. The articles aren't very interesting. I have also noticed that the major photography retailers have cut back on their advertising, i.e. B&H and Adorama used to have several pages showing their products and now one or two. What publications are you fellow "hogs" reading that worthwhile?

My son has just acquired an EOS-1D body, and is looking for the best range of lenses. I know nothing about Canon, so I hesitate to advise him. His budget is practically unlimited (tens of thousands), but he doesn't want to spend unnecessarily. While I think most of his shooting will be indoors, city streets and parks, he might also venture into both wildlife and macro, so you can be pretty wide-ranging in your suggestions.
Many thanks

100-400 L IS II 4.5-5.6 should cover it to the most part.

Has anyone had any experience buying from Profeel?

Yes, I bought my Canon 7D2 from them and everything went well with the transaction. They are an authorized Canon dealer.

Thanks for the interesting post, something we don't see normally. Approximately how far away were you from the action?

Just got my new....er, should say, refurbed Mark III. $2099 from Canon. And already have my finger prints on the LCD monitor. Is there a "cover" for these?? Which one is preferable??
3 lenses due today, too.

You can try one of these ...
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=lcd+screen+protector+canon+5d3

or save some money and do as SS suggested - buy a pack of protectors for a phone and cut them to size.

Did you add a drop of Blue Loctite to the threads as recommended in the instructions?

I have had it for nearly 2 years now and have had no problem with it.

I did a search on this subject and found a lot of information. However most of it was 3-5 years old. I have watched all the videos on the Cotton Carrier site. In some of the previous topics on this, there were other companies that were making something similar, however they are all no longer in business.

So for updated information I am looking for anyone who has purchased a CC say in the last year. If you have, what is your opinion of the product?

I am currently using a Black Rapid Dual Camera strap setup. Quality is great, fits well, but I often have to move fast (shoot motorsports) and my cameras swing to much if I do not grab them.

Thanks for any info

I am thinking about replacing my 7D with the new model. I got it about 10 months before the 7D II came out. Take all kinds of pictures sports, landscape, wildlife, portraits. I don't use it for video at all. I am going back and forth. Some reviews make me think "do it" then I will read another than makes me think "Not worth it." Any feed back from people who have used both would be grateful.

I went from the 7D to the 7Dii soon after the upgrade came out. Liked the original model and thrilled with the ii. Can handle much higher ISO's and is a good complement to my 5D3.

We are going in a few months, and wanted to know if anyone has been, and could give me any photography advice! Where was your favorite place to shoot, what, if anything, should I know in advance?

We were there this past Christmas - lovely area to visit. Great food, scenic places to shoot and lots of balloon rides. Don't miss out on doing a balloon ride - it's a thrill. Some of the things we did other than the hot air balloon ride - Goreme Open Air Museum, Uchisar Castle, Fairy chimneys, Derinkuyu Underground City, Carpet factory (we ended up buying many carpets - make sure you bargain if you shop; about 35 to 45% off list price), Pottery factory, Hike in the valley - beautiful and very scenic drives.

I'll send you a link to my albums via PM.

Thank you. Some say the 24-105 is better for full frame. You?

I have both the 24-70 and the 24-105 with this body and they both work fine. Plan to sell the 24-105 as I don't use it as much with the acquisition of the 24-70 2.8ii. Send me a PM if you are interested in the 24-105.

I just got a notice from Nikon telling me that they received my camera, which UPS delivered to them the day after I mailed it (3/2). It was nice being able to confirm with UPS that it had been delivered. I wouldn't be surprised if I get by tomorrow.

Being ignorant, what's the 750 being recalled for?

Last year we went to AK with friends who live there. They were our "tour guides" and we told them to pick things they had not seen before. The pick was Wrangell-St. Elias NP. Drove from Wasilla to Chitna, took a 1/2 hour flight to Kennicott for 2 days. Can hike to the glacier. Took a tour o
the mining town, took a 1 hour flight over the park. Was a wow ! and did not see anything that resembled something in the lower 48. Stayed at the lodge at Kennicott and enjoyed dining imensily - they have a world class chef. We were there in the spring - took advantage of "shoulder season" rated so got a really good deal. There is also a fall shoulder season. Check it out. The whole stay had unlimited photo ops. Used an 18-250 lens and it served me well.

Thanks D/Me .... That's another pick for Kennicott. Bill had also recommended it above. Will look into the feasibility esp., if we can get a decent deal!
