I have uploaded successfully to my original iPad using the Apple connector, as others have mentioned. But with a 4-day photography workshop coming up next month, I'm going to need to store and view hundreds of images a day, too many for the iPad. I use a desktop compuer at home, never needed a laptop, so I just bought an inexpensive netbook to take on this and future trips. With Photoshop Elements installed, I should have the storage, communication, and viewing functions I need. And it's the same size screen as the iPad, so packing it won't be a problem. Just another option for you.
That's good to know, boydimages. I use the CD burner in my iMac to burn music CDs to use in the car. Hate the idea of the Cloud, but it looks like that's the way things are going. I'm glad Apple computers last a long time, I'll be hanging on to my current one for quite a while!
Hello, I'm relatively new here and have been shy about posting, but this shot from Sunday's Hampton Classic on Long Island is for you! This old guy was making faces at whoever pointed a camera at him, I was just there. Hope you get a laugh!

Your post made me register so I could add this one, taken at a train station in Germany last year ...

Welcome to a fellow Long Islander. This place is loaded with information (and BS) and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
There is a group on the Island that does go out on local area shoots, if your interested, PM me.
Thank you, Traveler. I see you are a member of Suffolk County LI Photographers -- me too! Perhaps I will see you on one of the meet ups. Or maybe I already have and didn't know it.
Hi, I subscribed to the UHH newsletter a few weeks ago and love the information and interaction I see here. I started out with a Minolta XG-1 some decades ago, then got busy with job, life, etc. and now that I'm retired I can devote all the time I wish to photography. Started with a point and shoot and am getting back up to speed with a Nikon D3100. Somehow I get the feeling it won't be my last camera. ;)
