We have lots of green tomatoes and a cooking apple tree with loads of fruit, so this year we’re going to have a go at making green tomato chutney.

I always wonder what these tattoos will look like when the person with them gets old and wrinkly. Some arms will probably look like rotten meat.

True story, a guy told me that when he lived in a nudist colony clothing was forbidden...although wearing a full apron was permitted when frying bacon. You can’t make up stuff like that!

For many years there was a nudist camp in woodland about 400 yards from where I live. On warm sunny summer days when the wind was in the right direction the smell of their barbecuing was very distinct. I often wondered about how they coped with fat spitting from cooking the sausages.

Can you provide the research studies that prove a causal link between red and processed meat to colorectal cancer? Also, who is recommending the 70g or less consumption? What studies are they basing this limit on?

I have no intention of getting into a protracted discussion with you or anyone else over this.
It seems to me that if you were genuinely interested in research into this topic you would have checked it out on the Internet where the simplest of searches will show many research studies with plenty of empirical evidence confirming the link between red meat and lower bowel cancer.

Both my parents were farmers. They ate bacon and egg for breakfast, meat in their mid-day meal and often meat at dinner. They both died prematurely from lower bowel cancer, that has not been mentioned here.
Red meat – such as beef, lamb and pork – is a good source of protein, vitamins and minerals, and can form part of a balanced diet. But eating a lot of red and processed meat increases your risk of bowel (colorectal) cancer.

That's why it's recommended that people who eat more than 90g (cooked weight) of red and processed meat a day cut down to 70g or less. This could help reduce your risk of bowel cancer.

I think Tom put this on as a joke and didn’t expect an in depth analysis of photographic film or even movies.
Could be wrong though, but I still thought it was a very funny post.

If you google it shows on Wikipedia that it was GVIR. What do you think the II in EIIR stands for?

II is the Roman Numeral for 2, that is Queen Elizabeth the 2nd.

Likely, it shan't be too long before C||R will need to be replaced by W||R. Why don't the Brits simply pick a generic monogram?

I’m afraid that would miss the point. This monogram, as you call it, relates to a person who can be identified by it. Like, for instance, the 150 year old post box in my village relates to Queen Victoria. With something generic a whole record of our history (that is important to us) would have been lost.

In our U.K. village, which is over one thousand years old, we still have a post box with VR on the front. Since Victorian times we’ve now had four Kings and one Queen and are now into our fifth King. The letter box still works fine and letters are collected daily by the Royal Mail. The only problem with it is the posting slot for modern day letters is too small for the size of many envelopes that are now used.
So, keeping the old designation in many cases has never been a problem.

I'm sorry if my vocabulary bothers you...anything else...of substance?

Not sure of your position...you stated...' You believe what you are told based on prejudice and in some cases a partisan political belief.'.

That's my entire point. Though bias is the more correct term...back to vocabulary again.

We all have bias...all of us...and we use it all the time.

Exactly why when big issues come up...step back...listen to the words...but follow the money and the action.
If the words betray the other two...there is a problem.

That happened exactly with C***d.

Lest we forget...this was an issue that was weaponized and tied to e******ns globally.

You better believe there was tons of misinformation going around, and anyone who questioned the narrative was destroyed.

Indications of a problem...if one can put aside the bias and think objectively.

Get used to this sort of data coming out...
I'm sorry if my vocabulary bothers you...anything ... (show quote)

There was certainly loads of misinformation going round and most of it from people like you.

We've lost an exceptional human being who I doubt will ever be replaced. It was from watching "The Crown" that I learned so much more about her. Condolences to our "mates across the pond".

Please don’t allow yourself to be influenced too much by The Crown. It’s good entertainment, but riddled with inaccuracies.

It won't be the same under Charles. Many people over there and elsewhere feel no affection toward him, and the way he treated Diana will never be forgotten. I've never really understood the monarchy, but I have to say that this is a very sad day indeed. To quote my wife, "The last vestige of civility just died."

Of course it will never be the same with Charles, as our Queen was one of the most iconic figures ever. Certainly some people feel no affection for Charles, but the hundreds of thousands that turned out to greet him yesterday, with not a single anti-Royal in sight, tells its own story.
The actions of the King when he arrived at Buckingham Palace yesterday afternoon when he stopped to speak for a long time to so many people gathered to greet him (even allowing one lady to kiss him) was perhaps a little unexpected and certainly very impressive. His incredibly emotional address to the people last night was also impressive. He made it so clear that as our Monarch he must function in a very different way to that as the heir to the throne.
He will never replace his mother, but I have high hopes for a successful reign. I’m certainly far happier for our country to have a Royal family than not. God Save The King.

During WW11 the the Queen was asked about the children, (Elizabeth and Margaret) not only leaving London, but actually leaving the Country.
Her response was typical of our Royal family when she replied, “The children will not leave unless I leave, I will not leave unless the King leaves and he will never leave.”

In the 70’s in Birmingham U.K. despite great security, a smallpox virus escaped from a university lab and infected a woman in an office above. The woman sadly died, thus showing the great dangers of this virus.

But on the bright side, us old farts that have had smallpox v******tions are protected against monkey pox. It’s those young sprouts that can get it. The only time in my life where being old has paid off.

Apparently the smallpox v*****e gives around 85% protection against monkeypox, so that’s pretty good.
