Are you talking about the Digest, or about UHH itself?
I don’t use the Digest, but by going to UHH and clicking on Newest Topics I get the latest posts on the sections I am subscribed to and the date the topic was originally posted as well as the date of the most recent comment to that topic.

These are listed chronologically. I prefer to see them under each topic. You now have to go back to the topic filter to see the next topic.

"Rerunning" may be because new posts have been added to the thread?

No, it keeps running old posts in the thread and that wastes my time.

I see no advantage to the new way of displaying the topics here. I do not like having to go back to the topic list to read the next one. And I certainly do not like seeing the reruns. I waste time opening a topic just to see that its posts having been running for week.

What am I doing wrong? Can I fix it? Am I the only dissatisfied user here? What am I missing about this new setup?

Doyle, you can get good results with your current equipment and workflow. However, I started printing in 1959 and to make a long story short, I love all the improvements in gear and software. My work gets better and better while taking less time. When I think that the technology cannot find anything better, it does! Not all new features are useful to me but with every new update, Adobe surprises us with a new must-use feature I had not even imagined.

So stay with what you have or grow your artistry. Photography is such a great blend of science and art but the former is in the service of the latter.

You risk losing jumper clips when you vacuum the motherboard directly.

Never thought of that but a prudent warning.

Good move, using vacuum.

A few years ago, having trouble w vacuum getting everything out of some tight spaces, I took a PC to garage and blew it out w/compressor. On hooking it back up… numerous problems. Replaced some components to get it running again. I presume that moisture in the compressor tank did those parts in.

I vacuum and wipe with a cloth first and then use a can of compressed air for those last, hard to get places. The compressed air does not get very cold.

Did you try Newegg?

To make a long story short, your post made me look more closely at the fan. I now see that it seems to be a generic configuration so I should be able to buy one from Amazon for about $15. Going this way avoids my spending more time in finding the right new GPU. Otherwise, I am satisfied with the performance of this machine. A year from now when Adobe demands greater GPU performance, I will either upgrade or buy a new computer.

Thanks for setting me on the right path.

Did you try cleaning the fan? That can help extend the life. I also wonder if you could use a different fan with the same specs. I doubt there’s anything really unique about that fan.

I vacuum the inside regularly and the dust buildup on the GPU fan was not that bad. It is still noisy and getting louder. This is now a race against time. If I tap the case, the noise goes away for a few minutes.

I'll echo the comment about checking what your current power supply will support. Off the rack PC systems in past years typically had power supplies in the 250-300 watt range -- newer, more powerful graphics cards require substantially more, usually 400-500 watts or more.

My power supply is 400 W. Besides the graphics card that is rated at 75 W, the computer has a 1T SSD, 4T HDD, and CD/DVD drive. Since I do not play games, I should not need an expensive graphics card.

I asked Adobe what they recommend now for memory. Before, 2 Gb was the minimum with 4 Gb recommended.

Depending upon the age of your video card/computer, you may need to upgrade the case. I have a set of video cards in my desktop, but the new video cards are much longer and they would interfere with the hard drives.

My case has room.

" fan is getting noisy. I presume this means it will fail shortly."

The 1050Ti is the one I have and reviews say that for photo work they are quite adequate. Fan must be a common problem I googled "replacing the fan on an NVIDIA 1050Ti video board." There is a long list of videos on fan replacement.

Replacing the fan is very easy. I already took it off and reinstalled it without a problem. The problem is that nVidia does not sell them and no one I can find so far does. So, because of a lousy $20 fix, I have to buy a new card.

I need a new video card for my computer. The current one is a nVidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and the fan is getting noisy. I presume this means it will fail shortly. The problem is that I cannot find a replacement fan and nVidia does not have any. The current card is a gaming one with 4 Gb.

Since I cannot find a fan, I presume I have to replace the entire card before it dies altogether. The most intensive programs are Photoshop and Premiere Pro. No games. Adobe recommends just 4 Gb with DirectX 12 support for PS.
What do you recommend?

Thanks for your help.

The center of the flower is in focus but the bee is slightly out of focus. These are very hard pictures to take and focusing on the wrong thing is a common problem. The bee and flower are moving and then you may not be steady and fast enough to stay focused on the bee.

The other issue is the lack of proper post-processing to reduce the background and to focus on the center of attention: the bee and the flower he is sitting on.

The optics have moved to the next level and the mirrorless-designed lenses are the new and latest optical designs.

Cheers and best to you.

Thank you. My Sigma lenses except for the kit one delight me with there sharpness. At this point in my career, I do not feel like replacing them because of the cost. I know at some point I will text the new one just to see what I am missing. The Canon RF's are about double of the comparable Sigma non-RF's.
