That is a question sort of like I wonder how I will die. Well, I don't let it bother me " how" because when I " go " I won't remember how, when or where anyway. So, my pictures are for the here and now. When I pass, if a friend, relative or whoever culls through them and can find even one useful or just to " like " , so be it. Afterall, how rewarding will it be for me to wonder where the photos went when I'm long gone? To let it be known who gets them may be a benefit to the receiver and peace of mind to the giver. Keep snapping until there's no snap left. Enjoy what you do to the fullest. If you're not enjoying it, then find something else " to enjoy ". Life is way to short to be concerned or worry about " my stuff" or care about what someone may " think " about my stuff. 50 years from now, only a few people will trully remember me. And 25 years after that no one will trully remember the one who took that photo. Share what you have NOW but not with the " look at me and what I did " attitude. It's a gift to be able to put the photography knowledge that so many of you have to take a maybe not so perfect shot and then post enhance it to make desirable for showing. At 74, I enjoy taking shots, even though I don't understand all the terms. I'm more at pns and t let the camera do it's thing but still learn'n. This forum is really a great place to hear what others are doing. Keep on keeping on!!!

My learning curve sometimes doesn't match the learning curve of a software. Plus as a beginner, Im not familiar with some terminology. Before I purchase On1, I downloaded the trial version and watch some how to videos. I liked what others were saying about it and customer service. Between the PDF Perfect instructions, the videos and my " see what this does" experiments, I think I hit a gold mine. I tried other cheaper stuff but they were always limited on what they could and couldn't do. It's like this as anything else, the more you use it the better at it you get. = practice.practice practice.

I can understand why the background blur is good so that the emphasis is on the subject. Yet, sometimes it is good to have the background clear also. Question: how can I accomplish that effect?

I have 100's of photos and some are really good but the sizes are very low. They are all jpeg's shot from a Fuji 5700 and range from like 1.25 MB to 1.75 MB. Is there a way to increase the size after the fact or am I stuck with a bunch of undersized photos? Bottom line: I would like to submit some to a stock agency but I was told that many of the agencies require a minimum of 6 MB. I have moved to a Nikon D3300 and now shoot mostly raw photos. Still trying to understand and learn how the camera settings matter in every photo to be taken. So many variables........

Just curious. Is it possible to use a camera video and pause a perfect frame and snap a photo of it? It would seem to me and good way to capture a memorable moment.

As I see it: There are a lot of photo editing software packages out there. If you have one it's either you like it or you don't or ( maybe ) it could be better. All software and people have a learning curve. Some easy - others not so easy. Then there is the fact that once you learn what you have, somewhere along the line you may wish it could do more. What someone else has, may OR may not be what you need. The grass is always greener on the side. In the editing business, as software companies constantly update their product, there are other companies coming onto the scene saying they can do more and better. Buyer beware! Look before ya leap. Things may not be what they appear to be. There is a reason a beautiful rose bush has thorns.

I know where your coming from. Although, I'm sorta new at it and my camera and lens show it..... Nikon D3300. I agree with a couple of answers you got. Center point focus and aperture setting. Keep at it and someday it's going to "click" for you.

Pricing is purely an issue of what the value of the photo will add to the user. while, it would be fun to answer "How much can you say?" It depends on the number of times the image will be used. And in addition to wrapping Hot Tubs, how else???????????????????

I agree that licensing is the way to go. The less usage restrictions the higher the price. And the Austin Powers Character is a good starting point for Copyright. So, start out with a figure for the hot tub wrap and build up from their for other uses.

Where to start, I'm not sure. But messing around with licensing and negotiating at all would make me think that $500-1,000 would be a polite good start. Then see how they react, ask for guidance on what they're paying for other photography.

There are many variables including how you view the value of the image, do you do this for a living,? What kind of low/high precedent will this set. Under what circumstances did this opportunity come about? Were you contracted or did they discover the image. Except for very specific locations and people, almost anything can be closely matched with a Stock Photo. That's your competition. As noted above, check that first.

Since u brought up stock photos....do stock agencies take over a copywrite photo when it is submitted to them?

Well, I was leaning toward getting LR or PS but I have been looking at something else. It's ON1RAW2018. It has all that LR has plus more and many pros are turning to it ( they say ) because of it's simplicity to move around and the stunning editing capabilities. OK, someone please leave comment after they check it out. THX AK

I think in my peculiar case of learning - I'm unique. By that I mean, I ask a lot of questions to the point ( I think ) people think I'm obnoxious. But, I really don't care what they think as long as I get my answer. To the point of learning photography, I'm at a S-L-O-W stage. I pick up info here on the Hog, YoTub, or wherever else I can read about it. I have read and re-read about ISO, A, M , S, and P vs Auto so many times and while I get some of it, mostly I don't get it all. It so confusing to try to understand how each are related to the each other. You make and adjustment here and the if you don't make a corresponding adjustment on something else you get either a bad photo or you might get a lucky shot. Probably my best solution is either a combination of get with someone who is well versed, attend a class and just keep practicing 'til " I get it". Oh, I have kept my Fuji PnS but have bought a Nikon D3300. It's a long way from some Pro camera but at this stage, I have no business with a high end camera until I learn to do with what I got.
Nelson, I too have had the opportunity to enroll ina Travel photography course by Great Escape Publishing. I have found loopholes in their company whereby I can get SOME photography info without actually paying for their course. I do think the company is legit.....in that, I can't find any dirt on them. Not saying there isn't though. Buyer beware. A couple of people here on the Hog have suggested books for beginners in digital photography on Amazon that are very good. I believe, that I am more inclined to go that route or attend a hands on class rather than pay for an on line or downloaded course from a travel company.... just my two cents.

Hey, I am new here on this forum as well a newbie photo taker. All this ISO's, aperture, shutter speed, priority modes and manual and how and why and when to use then is downright OVERWHELMING. I want to thank each of you who answered this post. This clarifies the haze on my photographic mind. THX!!!
