In my opinion, there is no reason to keep track of the age of one's memory cards. Use them until they fail, if that ever happens.

Hi all,
I have an AsROCK 970 extreme motherboard, with an AMD processor that can take up to 32 gb of 1866mhz ram. I can use 3 of the 8 gb sticks, in any combination of the ram slots, as long as one slot is left open, it works fine. When I put a 4th in the final slot, the screen stays black and I can't hear anything other than the fans starting up. It has an SSD and an HDD, and I can usually hear the HDD.

I sent the 4th stick to the manufacturer and got it replaced, even though they said it tested fine. Tried it again, and the same thing. I would have thought maybe it is the motherboard, but since it seems happy as long as one of the 4 slots is open, and it doesn't matter which slot. It seems to be something else? I know nothing about bios and stuff like that, but am open to any suggestions. Maybe something in the bios is configured wrong?

I've never heard of anyone trying, or actually using just 3 slots, but is there an issue with slowing down, or anything with working in that configuration? I guess 24 gig is better than the 8 I started with.

Thanks in advance. This is my main editing computer, and I just want it working at peak performance. (have several projects coming due)

Just to be sure is all your memory the same manufacturer, same model, same speed and same type (DDR3 or DDR4)? If so, then, as others have said, you need to check your bios and mem config. You might want to check in Windows and see what your virtual memory settings are too.

Wouldn't a 100% crop be a photo with 100% of the pixels cropped out?

Correct, crop means to take away pixels, so if 50% is half, think about it, if you crop 100% of a photo, there would be nothing left.

I just returned from a trip to Canada and was asked no questions about my extra batteries which were in individual battery compartments in my carryon camera bag. I saw a notice in one airport security line that said I would be asked to remove them and carry them in my hands (?) but no one asked me to do that.

Yes, go to TSA and read about batteries. For the most part, unless you're shipping large amounts of batteries commercially, camera batteries are fine. If you want to be safe, consider getting a pouch to carry your batteries in so the contacts don't touch each other, or put some masking or electrical tape over the contacts so they don't touch.

"I am offended and demand that you not include me in this thread." I am sorry, I do not understand. If you are referring to me I have not included anyone except for the woman that confronted me and I do not believe you are that woman.

Bob it is a tough call for me because I have not been involved with such an incident for a long time and when I did it was because the local authorities had their rules considering a photographer with a tripod as a professional that should be paying dues to the city for photographing in a park. I got in touch with local authorities and that was cleared for me.

It is true that in a public place there is no privacy but to what extent we can photograph without having an incident such as mine I do not really know. I can also understand that with this kind of people any explanations go nowhere and that was exactly what happened to me. The woman kept on threatening me in spite of my soft and decent treatment toward her.

"I would've just told her to go ahead and call the police. After awhile you get tired of all the B.S." I agree with you but there are times when you have to use some judgment. There were children there, I did not aim my camera to them since I knew that was illegal here in Miami-Dade County. Since the woman was in such an attitude I deleted the picture (her son was not in it) and not very happy she walked away.

With street photography I have not had an incident but a very good friend of mine did to the point that the person discussing with him wanted to attack him. I witness the whole ordeal and believe me, it made me think about street photography twice.

We are living in a world where respect and decency are falling apart. Courtesy is practically gone and I find more and more aggressive persons on the streets ready for a fight regardless if they are right or not.
Thank you gentlemen for your input.

This is a big part of why I prefer to photograph animals or motorsports racing.

Have you tried to relocate the focus point (you didn't say if you were using a single or group focus point)? I have relocated the focus point many times by handling the camera and probably touching the part that relocates the focus point. Quite frustrating when you have a good action shot and realize the focus point is way off to the side, top or bottom of the focus screen.

If it is a large capacity card, check to be sure your camera will accept that size card. Some cameras only accept up to a certain capacity card (I.E. 32GB).
