I took this picture 2 days ago: Info as follows Nikon d3100, Nikon 55-200 f4-5.6 lens. Settings were F5.6 at 200 mm, exp. 1 sec, ISO 200 Auto WB, metering matrix. The question is the leaf in front is in focus, the flower in back is in focus, why is center out of focus? Thanks for input.

You are at F:5.6 and your point of focus is at the rear of the image, you need to use F:16 or smaller and focus in the middle of the image. Check your depth of field to be sure all is in focus. Moving back will also increase depth of field then you can crop in post processing.

I bought a used Z 7 and it didnt come with a manual, I went to a car show last week and found that my right thumb kept accidently changing the focus point. Can anyone give me a step by step (if possible) to change the commands on the rocker switch to something else.

Just go into the controls menu and disable the joystick at the top right rear of the camera.

I went out to Howard Metro and found the Egret and immature Eagle and at Magee it was a bee and butterfly. Both ends of the photographic spectrum.

Prices are too high because of greed and taxes are too high because too many people do not pay them. (renters)

I believe that. And, I just got my property tax re-assessments. Guess what? Up again. Some years ago, our state capped property tax rates, and folks thought that was wonderful. What they forgot was all county officials had do do was raise assessments, so they did, almost yearly.

Where I live we can challenge assessment and I've been doing that since I retired in 2010, Right now my assessment is 39,000 and my 6 month cost is a little under $250.00. Go to your property tax people and challenge your assessment. Also have with you everything you need to support your position. I used a diseased tree in the back yard and some masonry work on the front porch as part of my argument. In the past I've used the bad real estate that we saw in 2009.

Larry as you have said, flash duration is around 1/25000. It being the light for exposure, even at 1/60 ss you still are only exposing at 1/25,000 ,there will be no motion blur. The sensor will only record that brief moment of light. An added benefit is the background will not be lite due to inverse square law, giving you a very dark background and well lite subject.

At 1/250 and the flash fires at 1/25000 or 1/50000, the flash fires and the slower shutter is set at 1/250 is still recording the image. In Edmond Scientific info they stop a bullitt going thru an apple with electronic flash. In order to do that they have a darkened room because the shutter is locked open. The image is made with a sound trigger. I believe 1/250 is 100 times slower that 1/25000 so you be getting motion blur at 1/250.

But with the slow 1/250 you will get large amounts of motion blur. The flash duration is around 1/25,000. Yes that will stop some action but without a good shutter speed the 1/250 will bite you in the butt.

The Nikon D5600 has a couple of problems designed into it. First it has only 1/2 stops in the aperture not 1/3 stops like my any of my cameras. Secondly, has soon has you mount a strobe into the flash shoe the camera WILL change the shutter to 1/250. Much too slow for hummers. I'd forget the flash and set the ISO 1250 or higher with the shutter set around 1/2500. If you get a lot of noise Topaz Denoise AI will handle that for you.

I photograph these little birds through my kitchen window. I can't raise it because the little noise it will make will scare the birds away. I use a D3s and a 200-500mm F:5.6g VR and handhold the load.

Last Monday I drove up to the Kensington Metro Park to photograph the Osprey nest. The Osprey chicks where excerizing their wing and actually lifting off the nest. While shooting the Osprey's a couple Wood duck familys made an appearance.

I use Topaz Denoise AI on every picture. I use the manual settings. Only on flying images I'll use Topaz Sharpen AI, but I'll work thru all the settings untill I see a good one.
