I have the Tamron 16-300 and love it. I considered the 18-400 but lusted for the Sigma 100-400. the Tamron is my walk around lens. the Sigma is light enough to carry without a problem even with my 68 year old bad back. both the 16-300 and 18-400 are decent lenses, but neither are as good as the 100-400.

a few years ago I sold all my dslr gear because of severe back issues. bought a FZ1000 and loved it. it did everything I needed, except for one thing. I love macro and this is where I think the FZ1000 is weak. for whatever reason I couldn't take decent macro shots with it. that was enough for me to sell it and go back to my beloved Nikon gear. still have the back problems and I just suck it up. probably should have kept the FZ1000 for walking around.

all my lenses except one are third party so I will not be updating my D7200.

I'm right handed, but left eye dominate so my nose is always in the way.

great shot, but I was expecting a pic of Pennywise the clown.

once strangers, forever brothers. so sorry about your friend. I am still dealing with depression, PTSD, or whatever they call it. people think that all the years since the war will somehow remove the memories and nightmares we still have.

for me it was between the Sigma and Tamron. couldn't see paying 2500.00 for the Nikon. I went with the Sigma. while there is no tri pod collar, the lens is light enough to shoot without it. watched reviews and some say the Sigma is even better than the Canon L. so far I'm loving it. 700.00 plus a free dock was a steal.

Are you turning your stabilization off prior to shutting down the camera? I can't imagine leaving it on would cause battery drain, but it's a good idea to do this in any case. LensRentals wrote a white paper a while back advising the stabilization be shut off to avoid damage to undocked floating elements within the lens.

maybe this is true. maybe not, but I never turn stabilization off unless on a tri pod and I have never had a problem. maybe I'm just lucky.

I have only one AF-P lens. Nikon 10-20 and I don't have any trouble with it. all my other lenses are Sigma and Tamron. much more expensive than the Nikon. I won't be updating anything.

1971 for me. the year my daughter was born. got tired of pics with the 110 camera with the cube flash. (remember those)? bought a cheap Yashica and 50mm lens. gone thru a lot of equipment since.

any one use a mono pod with the legs on the bottom. there is a small Japanese garden that has waterfalls. they allow mono pods but not tri pods. how long of an exposer can you get with that sort of a mono pod?

since it's a "pro level" camera, it should have a built in grip. I have a grip on my D7200 but hate that you have to remove the grip to charge the battery in the camera.

took me forever to go digital because I have no computer skills. I can tweak my photo's in Elements but that about all. I shoot jpeg only and don't care if it's the wrong way. I just try to get the photo right the first time. I am also not a pixel peeper. at my age, I have no interest in learning to shoot raw and all the work that comes with it. think about it. how many people who see your photo's would know the difference or care. I print my photo's and give them to family and friends. so far no one has said it would be better if it were shot in raw. heck, they don't even know what raw and jpeg is.
