Very good advice.this site and honest advice helped me.sometimes you have to admit your a little down to bounce back.thank you
Thank you for your upbeat take, nice to read
I agree with what you said.photography was always with me,lately it seemed like it lost its luster.for me,that is a little scary.Im coming around.just have to stop reading about the latest and greatest equipment and what to buy next.thinking back when I would take my Nikon F and a lens and just shoot for sheer enjoyment.remember that?did you ever read about people talking about this lens, that lens etc.I just want to scream, did you ever actually take a picture worth talking about?Im going back to the basics.thanks for your reply,I appreciate it
I like the way you think.I have to step it up a little.the camera is not going to do it.sometimes you have to leave something and come back to it.
You are so right.while reading your post,I was itching to grab my gear and go.we just got back from Alaska.the cruise was canned, everyone photographing the same glacier, which, frankly is a little boring.we departed our bus in Denali .breathtaking to see,but the odds of getting a good shot of Dall sheep,or bear are slim.they are right in front of you,but don't pose for photos.I put my knowledge to use on one of the scenic shots.tourist stand in the same spot and shoot,I put my camera down on the ground with small flowers in foreground with the snow capped mountains in the background.those little travelled roads are out there, will take your excellent advice.thank you
I guess it is a slump.will come around quickly.my style is to capture the everyday subject in such a way that makes it stand out.I used to get creative by taking one lens, maybe 12-24 and take pictures all day that challenged me.greatly appreciate the comments.obviously some of you were dealing with the same thoughts.
Thanks so much for that.the replies helped me greatly.time for a reboot.Love to hear from other photographers. And thank you for your perspective.
I think you touched a nerve there, regarding anyone can take this incredible cameras and just hit auto and hope for the best.I have seen this with wedding " photographers " .I love photography, but feel it has been dumbed down to the point that every one is a photographer and who cares about quality.I am published and care about what I shoot.I guess that's my problem.New to this site and love to read about different topics.
.
Good point.yes I do that with our children and grandkids.I do enjoy that very much.I guess I am always looking for that exceptional shot, that seems played out.juat another example,We went to Hawk mountain,PA.when I got to the top, every camera and lens imagionable was there. That is where this train of thought started for me.then,of course I'm there with great equipment and someone standing next to me pulls out a phone and, snap, there done.I feel a little Overdressed. "
When I travel I take 18-200 lens.I do see the merit in what you said, though.
Hi,been shooting and enjoying photography over 45 years.I am finding excuses for not bringing my beloved camera with me lately.just got back from FDRs library and home, upstate N.Y.Figured it has been photographed extensivly, you can google it and there it is.what am I going to do,that has not been done.thinking about that wherever I go.I like to keep it fresh, but after looking at so many beautiful pictures since Google,it all looks stale.nothing impresses me anymore.is it just me,or maybe a dull time of year in the northeast.I want new, different, something that has not been done to the point that it is boring.have any of you felt this way? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Welcome,I have been shooting for over 45 years, always learning something new.had good equipment over the years, but compassion for photography is what drives me.I will use a cell phone and still get a good image.enjoy!
My eyes kept looking left to right and back.I cropped just on the bird and stalk,it was more pleasing to look at.then move the image to the right side of crop,so it gave some space for the bird to look out. When I compose a shot,it happens very quickly for me,almost no thought, but it " feels " right, then I take the picture.just some quick thoughts from my view.
I guess an earlier form of chimping was a Polaroid back on my medium format camera.had to check my table shot for any problems before I put the film back on.this is the fun part of digital for me.
1971,I saw a calendar with a picture of a street in Germany at night.snow on the ground, you can see inside the restaurants, nice warm glow.and the streaking of car lights.I was so fascinated by that.till this day,I love street photography, every day stuff, but if photographed and frozen in time, takes on a whole new look.life itself is beautiful,if I take the time to take it in.
