A beautiful sunny day may mean warm weather - but some days the cold ocean water means fog will creep onto shore. Five miles inland it may be 80 degrees and sunny - but here it will be 60 degrees and "pea-soup"!

These images were taken with an iPhone 11 Pro.

I almost never enter contests because of that. But consider this:

Visitor agrees as a condition of viewing, that any communication between Visitor and Website is deemed a submission. By making a submission, Visitor grants the administration and the owners of the Website a worldwide, non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, sub-licenseable and transferable license to use in any way, reproduce and distribute the submission and prepare derivative works of the submission without further permission. This includes commercial and non-commercial use of all submissions, including portions thereof, graphics contained thereon, or any of the content of the submission. Visitor agrees to only communicate that information to the Website, which it wishes to forever allow the Website to use in any manner as it sees fit. "Submissions" is also a provision of the Privacy Policy.

Wow - who would give away such rights to their best work? This is in the Terms-of-Use for THIS website! I for one would like more transparency from admin about how they use photos submitted here, if they have ever used photos for their financial gain/support, etc. I think any use of a submitted photo should at least be accompanied by notification to the owner of the photo.

That is a lot of pumpkins. Another thought is that maybe they grow them for a canning company?

I imagine that is the case. Small pumpkins are often called "pie pumpkins" since one pumpkin may yield enough mashed pumpkin for one or two pies. I have one sitting on my table right now that is about 8 inches tall by 6 inches diameter. It was a fall decoration, but it is now about time to cook it for pies for Thanksgiving. You can peel it and boil it like you do with butternut squash, or you can cut it in half and bake it and then scoop out the innards. I usually bake the seeds and eat a few and throw the rest out for the birds and squirrels.

Very funny and very true. Love the trick about getting the dogs off the bed. We now (sadly) have "down-sized" to a small dog who doesn't even bother to sleep on the bed.

Funny about AA. I like the line (inspired by the TV show "Cheers": "If you go to a bar where everyone knows your name - you are quite possibly an alcoholic"!

I am old enough to remember the awesome sound of those huge B-17 rotary engines. In the 1950's there would occasionally be large squadrons flying in and out of a nearby airbase. They were retired in 1959, so this must have been just prior to that. A few years ago I didn't realize that one of these beauties was going to be in a nearby airshow, and I was outside doing yardwork when I heard a rumble, and it took only a second or two to remember the sound of those engines. All of a sudden a B-17 and a B-25 came in low over my house on their approach to the nearby airport. Took my breath away. Sad about the lost crew, but equally sad to lose these two planes, few of which are left.

I enjoy seeing some of the old Johnny Carson episodes on Youtube - he was the first to present some great talent - like Robin Williams.

Wow. My dad flew a P-38 in the Philippines and survived, although he lost one brother on a battleship that was sunk in the Pacific and one brother who died in a plane crash during flight school. The post-war period was very interesting. Although over 400,000 Americans died, the war caused huge social and cultural shifts. Many volunteers were like my dad - straight off the farm, but after traveling around the country and going overseas, he returned to go to college via the GI Bill, and was the first in his family to ever go to college. That probably came at a good time, since it wasn't long until mechanization made it pretty impossible to support a family with a small (80-acre) family farm.

Is there some way that we can train the rats to eat bedbugs? Wouldn't that be wonderful!!??

Probably really don't want to use any of those solvents on your skin. You know.... cancer. In the ER they usually use a scalpel and a very precise touch. Especially when someone has rubbed their eyes and glued their eyelids together!

"Dungarees".... Jerry - you no doubt keep your "billfold" in a pocket. Or, as one young man advised me when I pointed out that he had "dropped his billfold": "Ha! That's what my grandpa calls it"! Sheesh!

Very nice. It would be fun to explore the old cars and engines before and after they are rehabbed.
