I had to find a spot where there weren't people behind me and then I put up a navy blue nylon blast jacket in the fence over my camera lens. With my head and the camera under the jacket, like an old time 8" X 10" plate photography camera. The idea was to keep the fence as dark as possible so it would reflect as little as possible. On our 'home' field I spray painted a small square of the fence flat black to make it disappear even more. On away fields I'd put black electrical tape over the wires of one of the diamonds and that would help it mostly disappear.

My dad tells about a spelling bee while he was in jr. high. There was an old retired judge that always pronounced the words to spell. Near the end of the round when most of the contestants had already been eliminated the word "Egg wyped" came up. One by one all of the contestants misspelled the word so they were all reinstated and they went on to the next word. After the end of the contest one of the parents spoke with the judge and admitting that they didn't know the word asked how it was spelled. "Captial e g y p t" was the reply.

If you've worked on them, adjusted, captioned, etc. then you want to export them from your laptop so that the work is captured. Otherwise you'll copy the original and have to repeat the work on the desktop.

Last night I read one of the want ads in a farm paper I receive. "For sale, a two wheeled grass cedar for fencerows and waterways." Maybe he was planning on planting trees with his grass cedar?

Two things from my own wedding:

Our wedding photographer was a member of the church my wife grew up in. She was still a member there and the wedding was held there. I don't know if it was special to us or weddings in that church or if it was in his general contract, but he guaranteed that we could get any more prints that we wanted from him for 10 years, and we did order a few later. The next clause was that after 10 years or a year after his death, which ever came first, we received the negatives. They are now safely ensconced in our lock box at the bank. We may print as many as we want, we just aren't allowed to sell them. I have no inclination to sell any of my wedding pictures anyhow. That seemed reasonable to acquire the negatives.

Back in those days, there was only 1 official photographer for a wedding, at least the weddings I went to. I brought my own camera to the wedding, planning on taking pictures, not seeing that I had a lot to do. Well as things rolled through the afternoon and toward the evening wedding things picked up. A friend of my wife's family was there and offered to do what ever was needed. After checking with my wife I handed him my camera and some film and pointed to my camera bag with extra batteries, and a bunch more film. When you wind the film back, wind the leader clear into the cassette so it can't be double exposed. Afterwards that will make it easy for me to know which ones are exposed and which ones aren't. I told him to take pictures of everything the photographer didn't take pictures of. I set the flash on auto and the F/stop to match and shutter on x/sync. All he had to do was focus. I found out later that he had Parkinson's Disease, but fortunately the strobe eliminated that as a factor. He went through several rolls of film and had a bunch of good pictures. We were delighted to have those pictures as well.

It pronounced "mole" board, although I can see how it might be corrupted to mow board, but if you look it up in the dictionary you'll find it under mold-board.

For the last 3 1/2 decades we've made calendars of the kids pictures for their grandparents. Even though the kids are now grown and one their own it is still the grandparents favorite Christmas present every year, hands down. They go up in both kitchens for all who come to see and be seen every day by the grandparents.

You can't go wrong with grandchildren.

When I was in college, 4 decades ago or so, I did a photo shoot for 4 classmates who formed a gospel group and were publishing a record. They needed a photo for the albumn cover. It was a very low budget affair so all I asked for was $10 for the B&W film and photo paper and a credit on the albumn for the photo, along with a copy of the albumn for me to keep. (At the time I was still toying with the idea of getting into photography as a full time job, but that didn't happen.)

Since the photo shoot was well outside of town on a farm and we all rode out in one stationwagon I also got a supper out of the deal, before we headed back to campus.

When the albumn came out there on the back with all the other information was Photo by and my name. it was off by itself, away from the other information on the back. The group wanted to include so much information that the font kept shrinking to get it all in.

So it turns out that my name was printed in a font about 50% bigger than the names of the singers. We all had a good laugh over that.
