I only use 16GB cards. I have 18 of them. I download and reformat often. I do not put all my eggs in one basket, I do not use SD cards as storage.

Sorry but: Affect and effect are easy to mix up. Here's the short version of how to use affect vs. ... Affect is usually a verb, and it means to impact or change. Effect is usually a noun, an effect is the result of a change.

Although Lightroom is fantastic for editing my photographs, it is not efficient for taking the edited photographs and ordering them for a presentation. Furthermore, I am not happy with the Slideshow function in LR. Please suggest some inexpensive software that will allow me to order my photographs and present them to an audience on a large monitor.

You can sort and present slide show easily with Adobe Bridge.

Get the subscription and enjoy life. always have the latest LR, Photoshop and bridge. Latest LR has great features. Worried about price? Make an excel spreadsheet and compare costs over 5 years of Subscription vs buying upgrades.

Not accusing anyone of hypocracy; just selective judgement for some. Saudi Arabia is a big issue, to me. Starving and seemingly purposeful bombing of a high percentage if children as targets is a repetitive activity for them in Yemen. And using US-made armaments in the process. The Cubans got nothing on us, in that area, since Congress refuses to stop selling such arms to the Saudis...or Trump defending the Saudi murder of a reporter. The Cuban people suffer for the restrictions we apply on them, not their leaders. Yet they are no more guilty of excesses applied by their government than we are by ours.

I too have been to Cuba and would love to go back. Cuba was nothing like all the negative propaganda I had heard my whole life. The people are amazing and enjoy life. Those who are bashing Cuba think how we look to other countries. I have been to 38 countries, I support a world view,

Go to my Website link below and tell me what photos were taken with a Nikon D80, D7000, D610 and D750. Photos will tell you everything about the photographer and nothing about the camera.

I have been all these places several times except Russia with a Nikon D750. No issues what so ever. It is easier to shoot street photography and children than is the US. Mongolians, Cambodians and Vietnamese are very friendly. Chinese can be rude, read about their customs ahead of time and act accordingly. Manchuria is amazing. You can go to www.thegroverphotography.com and see what I was able to shoot in all these areas. Safety and security is just use common sense. The general public does not have guns, so nothing to worry about. You are 55 times more likely to get shot in the US than in Vietnam. Most crime for tourist is petty crime again use common sense. In these areas it is important to have a good tour guide. Enjoy.

The catalog is the key to how the software operates. If you don't want to manage your images with a searchable database, no one is saying you have to. Chose any other software you desire. As said in another comment in this thread, the software does only what the human at the keyboard instructs the software to do. If the human does not want training, is too busy to do their homework or makes an uninformed choice when setting parameters during usage, that's the software user and not the software. Although we haven't heard from the OP on why they decided to use an DNG, the correction to the problem they posted is just a few keystrokes to undo the prior import. For an experienced and knowledgeable user, there was nothing about their issue that was 'grief or lost time'. There are hours upon hours of 100% free training available on utube and Adobe's site for how to set-up and use Lightroom. However, if you desire to sit down and play and think you'll learn by doing, this is not that software. Training shouldn't be considered grief or wasted time.

I travel a lot with one or two Nikon D750's. I use 16GB cards. I bring 18 in two Think Tank Pixel Pockets, plus the two or four that are in my camera's. I would never use larger than 16GB for photo's. Two many eggs in one basket. I do not reformat until I have returned home and everything is backed up.
