I just treated myself to a birthday present for my 70th: a Panasonic GX7 4:3 Mirrorless. It has a built in grip. I also bought 2 lens: f5.6 14-42 and f5.6 45-200. And it has a very comfortable built in Grip.
What a gem! It is light, has an EVF and LCD and they both are adjustable up and the LCD ALS out and down for taking photos above the crowd.
This camera has more bells and whistles than my Canon 6D!!
I will still take my 6D on travels but for hiking and quick availability I will grab my little gem. I always shoot in Raw and the photos so far are great and I am told enlarging them even up to 20 x 30 is still very possible.

I forgot to add the Horseshoe Bend Vista about 2 miles south of Page on 89.
Spectacular either at Sunrise or Sunset. It is the Little Colorado River. Take a Tripod.

We are in Phoenix right now. We visit each year for 6 weeks. This past weekend we did exactly what you are planning only wit a couple of different turns. Might I suggest the following:
Leave Phoenix and drive north to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Park there for 45 minutes, join the crowds, then back into the car and head East towards Cameron, still in the Park. Stop at the Viewpoints along the way not to miss the last one with the Tower. Doing it this way you get away from the crowds, the scenery is more spectacular, and you get a full view of the Colorado River. This would all be done in the PM so colors are somewhat more vibrant.
Then drive out of the park going east to Cameron and highway 89.
Go north to Page. We stayed the night at one of the Best Western's for $90 tax inc. We had booked through Overland Tours in Page a tour of the Upper Antelope Canyon at 10:15 am. You are driven out there by a very competent driver/guide with good photo knowledge. This tour is not to miss! If you think the GC is spectacular, you ain't see nothing like this canyon! Bring a tripod and a lens of say 24-110 or there abouts
We were up early so we went down to the Glen Canyon dam and Lake Powell first.
Driving up to Page on 89, at the village of GAP you will take the detour 89t for 'temporary'. This road is cut ally 15 minutes shorter and will land you in Page.
Book both the Motel and Overland Tour now.
After the Antelope tour which lasts 1 1/4 hours or 2.5 hours for the Photo tour we left for Sedona and spent a couple of hours there. Do not go on this trip on a weekend!! Crowds!!
In Sedona if you stay the night there then go up the Airport Road for the Overlook at Sunset.
During the day, walk the Main Street but south of town there are some really good Viewpoints to stop at. One really interesting one is on Chapel Road east off a roundabout. You will come to the Church of the Holy Cross on the hillside.
The house below and before belongs to an individual who sold a Med Tech company a few years ago. It's worthwhile to peer through the fencing to see the beautiful gardens
From there back on to 179 south there are other View Stops which are worth the stop.
Then back to Phoenix. Enjoy

I'm curious: I have been an Aperture user for 3-4 years now after having used Photoshop for many, many years. One of the Aperture benefits for me is its Library which I used and organized very effectively for approximately 22,000 photos (Yes, I do have them backed up, twice, and off line. I remember using Lightroom years ago but only to process into Photoshop. Yousay that you converted from Aperture to Lightroom: May I ask how you did this and were you able to maintain your library system and also move not only Masters but also their Versions?

You have to be a member of Costco. The only ones in Minnesota are located around the Twin Cities along with one north in Baxter.
BTW, I have used their photo facility for about 5 years now for large sized frame-able wall mounted prints and also canvas enlargements. The great thing about Costco is that if you are in the least bit unhappy about the quality they will redo at no charge.

One last comment, especially after all the Blurb recommendations; I have used Apple for books which are of excellent quality, somewhat expensive compared to the latter. However, I just had a couple done by Costco, of all places, on line.
38 pages, glossy, both sides, 100+ photos! about $35, shipped free to the warehouse closest to me in about 5 days. Hardcover with photo and title on the front. Great flexibility as to size and layout.
You upload the photos you want to use to their site and then drag and place on the pages. It is very easy.
For what it's worth.....if you are a Costco shopper. BTW, they do excellent print and canvas work also.

I believe as stated above you would be very interested in the Antelope Canyons in Arizona. They are located about 2 miles south and east of Page, AZ. They are on Navajo land and you have to pay in cash, about $40 per person if I remember correctly. Noontime is the best so that the sun shines down through the slots. There are 2 slot canyons, one across the road from each other. They are worth the price. Absolutely mandatory is a tripod. The canyon on the south side has you take a truck and guide to it. Make sure the guide shows you the best photo ops.
A lot of people then go on to Bryce northwest of Page in Utah.
The two together are worth the trip!

Several years ago we flew in and out of Las Vega and did Zion, North Rim, Bryce, Route 12 to Capital Reef, then Arches, on to Sedona, up to the South Rim. Finally ended up at the Hoover Dam and back to Vegas! 8 days about 1200 miles.
Last year while in the Phoenix are we drove north to Page, AZ on the sout side of the Utah border and Lake Powell. 2 miles south of Page are the Antelope Canyons , two of them across the road from each other, and they are absolutely spectacular. They below he ground slot canyons in sandstone. Must go when it is sunny and preferably at noon hour when the sun is overhead and thus shining down through the slots. A tripod is a must.
So if you are planning Bryce then Page is not far away: a very unique photographic and sightseeing adventure !

I have used Photoshop for at least 7 years but now use Aperture 3 almost exclusively over the past 3 years since I became an Apple follower with 15" Mac book Pro, iPhone, and iPad!
Aperture will do just about everything you need for 'adjusting' photos.
If you need to, however, replace one head for another from one photo to another, then you export the photo from Aperture to PS.
Another contributor noted that Aperture is very friendly: this is so true versus PS and Lightroom ( which I also had at one time.) I was able to take advantage of the Apple store in person lessons a couple of years ago free with the CD purchase at the time for one year. Then I renewed the lessons for another year for $99, every $ worth it. I'm on mine own now but have retained most of what I learned from the experts.
Also I use Aperture to store all my digital photos in its Library: about 18,000 of them used my own index system.
Being user friendly as most Apple products, it is very easy to make very fine adjustments starting at the top of the Adjustments menu with Exposure and it sub adjustment and on down to Highlights and Shadows.
Of course, now you can download the software for $99 I believe whereas Iaid 3X three years ago but as I said earlier: worth every $.

I just purchased a Tamron 18-270 All-purpose lens. I checked the user reviews in several sites and also at the camera store where I purchased it. The sales person had actually field tested it. Bottom line, after owning a number of different lenses over 30+ years, this one is excellent for the price. And I have owned Tamron lenses in the past but this is one that is all purpose from wide angle to zoom. Also it is quite compact and light weight. It' not that fast; only the standard f3.5. Look it up on the web.
I forgot to add that I have used it for the past 2 months: with grandchildren, landscapes, flowers, people. And we just returned from a week in Mexico with lots of sun and sand photos including sunsets and sunrises. I was very pleased.
