Pretty soon Chris T will have to start answering his own questions since he will have put everyone on his ignore list.

If he is a pro as his bio states his time here would be better spent teaching about his skills and knowledge based on experiences. He does not do this in most of his posts which leads me to believe he is looking for ways to belittle others here through the use of long winded retorical questions. JMO.

All of mine are on dvd stored as data files. I am over 100,000 now and include contact sheets. I create best of discs and store them labeled as such. I do not cull files as what is interesting to one may not be to others.

Will anybody go over each file probably not but pdf contact sheets may help them find an image of interest. I see photography as a record of time and each image I capture is a record of my short time here, my life, moments I held enough passion for to record.

LoL, it’s even MORE apparent from the pics they post, those that post.
I’ve shot professionally on and off for the last 50 years and I learn on EVERY shoot, whether it’s commercial or sports or portraits.
I’m glad to share what litte I know and post a pic when it’s pertinent, but most of what happens here is NOT about making ones photography better but wanting to know how to improve ones gear, but that’s so boring I don’t comment much!!!
SS

Amen to that. All the gear in the world of the top of the line means nothing and most responses to those topics are lame opinions based on only what they use.

I study the image and try to learn from that. How would I shoot it. Could composition be better etc. I also lurk in the shadows here reading comments on various subjects.

Whoa! Those are beautiful for sure Duane. The sky in the first shot and the Sun flare make it my favorite, but the framing in the second one makes it hard to look away. Great work on the post. I can never get HDR right, but you inspire me to try harder. Thanks for braving the weather and sharing.

Thanks so much. I use Machinery HDR it does a good job for me.

Great images. I think I commented we both have that Tokina and I reference your use of it for how to better use a wide angle lens well. My question: with my 7200, I don’t believe I can take an HDR image, unless the camera is set to jpg. Is it different with your camera?

I do not use the internal HDR. Set to aperture mode and bracket the shots holding the button and using your scroll wheels to set the number of shots and the stOP increments. I usually go a full stop up and down on each shot. Then you need to process all the images in post through software of your choice.

I think these are absolutely beautiful shots. I normally don't like HDR treatments, but these do not look overdone as a lot of them do. Great job.

Thanks appreciate the acceptance.

Donate you archive to the Library of Congress they are the best at preserving historical data. And they would be available online. Provided they don't lose funding.

Or maybe you'll just see a picture of a tree. And perhaps you might quibble with my choice of f-stop or exposure settings, or wonder what kind of camera and lens combination I use, or where my focus point is, and why I chose that point, or whether and how I used post-processing. And in doing so, you'll have totally missed the FEELING of the moment. Pity. It ain't about camera brands and lens choices and settings, or whether to use manual or program or full-auto. Nope. This image is not an attempt to document, but rather an attempt to COMMUNICATE!
Or maybe you'll just see a picture of a tree. And ... (show quote)

Thank you for this post. I guess one has to decide if one wants to be an artist or a photojournalist. Me I decided to be an artist first . I no longer fiddle with my camera anymore in a confused manner. After one does something a hundred thousand times it becomes second nature.

You know what you are capable of and better yet what your tools are capable of. That is when you can explore your artistic vision. I like being free from the rules so many here try to force upon everyone. Rules limit artistic freedom and personal growth as an artist. It is good to know the rules and use them as guidelines only. Don't get hungup on by the book crap all the time. Look at the really popular images today, these artists are rewriting the book.

All great shots! Not too over done for HDR. Curious, though, why did you switch from RAW to JPG for the middle one?

I shoot hand held on most of my shots and the D7100, even with a class 10 card can't buffer 5 RAW images well. So I am going to 3 shots in RAW and am having no buffer issues. The river shot was prior to trying the other method out.

I know I could use a tripod and do 5 but setting up on ice, snow and cold is not an option at below zero. I try to limit my camera exposure to those extreme Temps more than myself lol.

I seldom use hoods unless lighting demands it. My Tokina 11-16 has a lot of flare issues and the hood does little to correct it. The angle to direct light corrects it better than a hood.

On my telephoto I generally use the hood but shoot with these lens less.

Not so sure they are advertising more than before. Google and others use your history to present ads to you that may be of interest to you.

They look like a quality product not much different than Acrylic I imagine.
