I love the Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E VR. The attached Bald Eagle image was shot hand-held, D810 1/1600s @ f/8 -0.07EV ISO 800. This is just one photo of the hundreds that I have shot with this lens.

Would I like to own the prime PF 500 f/5.6? My answer is, Why? Would I like to own the prime 500 f/4? Again, Why... just because it's one stop faster? Of course, wouldn't we all like to own a prime 600 f/4, well ... I might be a minority in regards to owning lots of $$$.

Some attest that the lens hood is a piece of junk ... well, this particular item doesn't take the picture, and on the positive side it has taught me some new cuss words. As for the zoom sucking in dust, debris, etc. Big deal! Don't mistreat it. The fact that it's heavy ... that's a pretty lame excuse. I'm 74 and have MS. If I can pack this thing around ... any complaining pansy is just wasting time crying on my shoulder!

This lens takes stunning photographs, and for the money you can't go wrong. If you break it, buy another.

Wanted: Good used Nikon 600mm, f/4, VR

If you find one, better grab it before I do. VR would be nice, but I'd settle for a manual focus ... shot with a 500 manual for years, just cranked it over to infinity focus and went to town. Took beautiful photos. Sold it on a whim and still kicking myself.

Could be some truth in this.

I called Epson Tech Support on Friday regarding an issue with my Stylus Pro 4800 printer. I couldn't understand one damned word the [female] tech was saying. When I asked for her name and where she was located, she replied, "Nicole, Philippines." Yeah, right ... Nicole. Sure. I hung up! Called a tech support number for another product question last week and "Michael" from Bangladesh answered.

I have a rule: Whenever I call a tech support number - or any company for that matter - for any reason and I get a Third-World sounding voice on the other end, I immediately hang up. I also do not speak nor understand Ebonics and that's also an immediate disconnect on my end.

I'm disgusted with some name-brand companies that we have trusted for years to provide quality assistance with their products, and now we are forced to deal with a tech reps with Mud-level IQ's that can't even speak intelligent English.

Jerry, I enjoyed your Dagwood post and had to laugh. Sad, but true. I wonder what Mud-World country that kid was from that Dagwood was speaking to?

OMG. Way too long, I must be getting really old.

Yep, me too. At first I didn't know what to make of it ... I just stared at it for the longest time ... probably 5 minutes or so. Then, Wamo!!! it hit me right between the running lights because we've been looking for the faithful return of our Robbins and other Spring birds. Duh!!!!!!!!

Ya know, Robbins are amazing birds. I have the same ones returning each Spring to come home. The incredible distances they travel to their destinations stuns my imagination.

In a Strait-tail C182 no less. Pilot's window stays open from the air stream ... no need for a co-pilot. Only way to shoot aerials. Good job.

Other than for professional photographers (those who earn their living through photography) how many lenses are really needed? On full frame camera is anything more than a 35mm or 50mm and a specialty lens, ie a telephoto, or macro, or something else depending on the focus of interest really needed? I know that lens manufacturers want us to think we do, but do we really?

What kind of a question is this? One can never have enough lenses. It's the same for guns ... I can never have enough and keep buying more ... lenses, guns and silver - best investments that one can own ... bar none!

Typical PHD photographers who 'shoot from the hip' and understand absolutely ZERO about photography or their cameras ... nor, have one ounce of desire to learn. Complete idiots!!! I don't waste my time engaging in conversation with these type of Morons - all you have to do is watch them take a few pictures and the rest is pretty simple to figure out.

PHD doesn't stand for any special university degree ... it stands for, 'Push Here Dummy.'

Lens was used in Aerial Photography business as a backup for Nikon mid-range focal length lenses. This lens was used only 2 times and is in like-new mint condition, and was purchased new in 2005. It has both front & rear caps & sun shade. I no longer have the box or manual (if there was one)

I currently have no need for it and would like to see it go to a good home. The lens produces sharp image quality and color throughout the f/4 to f/5.6 focal ranges. The two occasions it was used for was for a aerial shoot, the other for a ground landscape shoot.

The attached photo is of the lens with the serial number -129939. I have other photos on file for interested parties ... can't figure out how to post multiple photos as yet.

I will also be selling a Nikkor 18-35mm in another post. I am selling both lens towards the purchase, or trade towards the AF-s Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G which will replace both lens as one of my prime landscape lenses.

The Tamron is $65 with free shipping CONUS. I recall paying somewhere around $350 or more, new. Will accept money order, cashier's check, or personal check. Personal checks must clear before I ship. I am not set up for Pay Pal. PM me. Thanks for looking.

Since you're a Montana resident consider giving Bozeman Camera a call, or visit. They are an Authorized Nikon store and service center. I do all my camera equip. business with them and have bought both new and used gear. They are absolutely the best - the employees are all shooters and know camera gear inside and out .... Ha, see what they have to say about International cameras!!!

They ship UPS, and standard ground shipping arrives on my doorstep the very next day ... never an exception. I live in remote NW Montana and am forced to do business either by phone or internet. Bozeman Camera gets a five-star rating in my book.

Just for your information (and others here on UHH) Nikon USA DSLR camera serial numbers always begin with a 3. If it isn't a 3 don't touch it ......... no matter how good the offer and price - Period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Yes, He always gives us something very special; especially when we make the time to discover the creations that He has set before us to enjoy and to share with others.

You have a special gift, Kenny - an eye for photography, and it's many art forms. There are so many responses to fine photography work posted here on UHH endorsed with only one to three mundane clichés. Even the very special photos don't elect much enthusiasm ... ???

Your photo set of these early morning, ocean sunrises are breathtaking, and they take the viewer upon a journey ... which is what a photograph is supposed to do. Thank you for the journey, I will reflect upon it often.
