I've been using Picasa for 10+years. I've taken it for granted and am dependent on it. Since Google discontinued updates and support for it a couple of years ago, it's just a matter of time before it stops working. I use it for organizing, cropping and a few other adjustments plus emailing and uploading to web sites. It's so easy; transfer pics to computer, import and there's a new folder, ready for playing with. I'm not particularly computer-savvy and other applications would be more difficult. A few years ago I was given a copy of Photoshop Elements and couldn't get the hang of it.

So I dread its inevitable demise. How am I gonna organize, crop, etc? Do you know of any user-friendly apps that will do what Picasa does?

It's still life WITH Picasa. But with Google having stopped support for it a couple of years ago, I figure we're one Windows update away from it ceasing to function.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome.

I'm an old fossil from Rochester, NY who's been taking pictures my whole adult life. I bought my first SLR (Honeywell Heiland Pentax) in 1961 and (days ago) my first DSLR (Nikon D3400) which I haven't used yet because I don't yet have a lens. I like to shoot anything that moves (except people), mainly birds, butterflies, dragonflies, frogs and anything that wants to cooperate. Unfortunately, my enthusiasm greatly exceeds my skill. Also, unfortunately, I'm unable to get out as often as I'd like.

Registering here was somewhat clumsy; every time I clicked something I was greeted by boxes for password and i must've double-entered it a half-dozen times.

My first post after this will be about life after Picasa, the thought of which terrifies me.

I'm looking forward to using this forum with the fascinating name (aren't all hedgehogs on the ugly side?).

Cheers,
Marty
