Nice, I hope you got a chance to enjoy the last one! It's almost that time for me.

A storm that was supposed to miss us suddenly blew in and gifted us with several minutes of hail as well as high winds and rain. No damage, fortunately, though some of the hailstones were an inch or better. Once I closed everything, I grabbed the DF I used for the landscapes this morning. It was still set at 1/320. If you zoom in, you can see white lines of hail falling. To the left under the trees in the first photo, to the right behind and over the pond in the second.Posted as a curiosity. When I change routers I always use the same ID and password that I used on the old ones. That way nobody in the household needs to change the settings on phones, tablets, laptops and printers. That might be the easiest thing for you to do.

I am trying to learn to use the many editing features of Lightroom/Photoshop. So far, I have not been able to understand the initial process. I want to place my camera card in my computer and place a series of pictures in LightRoom/Photoshop. I would then like to edit each pic. If someone were able to offer a few simple pointers to get me started, I would really appreciate the help.

This is a great way to get things setup right from the beginning. And Steve Perry is a UHH member.

I have a little feathery mate join me at breakfast. I have cereal & he his worms. Supplied by me.
His movements are too fast to really appreciate, so I used the Slo Mo feature on my iPhone to get some footage.
I Air Drop them to my Ipad & discovered I can edit the boring frames of waiting, anticipating his next arrival.
I've used the Slo Mo & Time Lapse before, & AirDrop, even edited photos in Ipad, but only found Video editing by fiddling around with it today.
These clips have 1 at real time & 3 at Slo Mo to see the actions of mate. He is called a Willy Wagtail here in Australia.
Hope they work. Happy new Year.

a Canadian singer stared in a spy thriller series, never singing a note. name the singer and the name of the program.

Thank you! "a 1966 United States espionage drama" sounds great! Now maybe I can introduce my wife to something new that we can both actually enjoy watching!

Other than NCIS, I usually ignore whatever she's watching. That's not really a bad thing, because I'm usually reading and doing my thing while she's all wrapped up in gameshows and various happy Hallmark movies.

I got the idea from a YouTube video. Budget 1 light setup. Under $250.

I have a passing interest in studio because of the harsh climate up here and it's something else to learn.

So, thoughts? Ideas? General critique?

Nice shots! I can't offer any ideas to improve them. Budget setups are great and so is your model for hanging in there for you!

When photographing birds photographers always focus on the eyes. If you miss it/them, chances are that the image is not acceptable. Many of us check our skill by magnifying the image when editing. It is a great way to assess the quality of both your technique and gear. The following are a few of my favorite close ups, which one is yours? Enjoy the downloads and double downloads. Most were taken with a Nikon D850 and Tamron G2 600.

They're all great, but I'm partial to the redhead

To: CHG Canon: Many thanks for your advice. I do use a Nikkor 55-200mm VR lens and a 70-300mm AF-P VR. But your thoughts on the 17-55 are very impressive. Thanks again. Davidb1879.

I'm also an amateur, Davidb but I agree with CHG Canon. The Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED is worth every penny! It has the same build quality as my FX lenses. I bought a used copy from Amazon 3 years ago and it's still one of my favorite lenses for the D5300 or D500. I don't miss the VR when using it, and I almost never use my 16-80mm f/2.8 & 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DX zooms.
