During the age of film, dealing with; starting off with the Minolta systems, Contax (no auto focus lenses), to Nikon, I have to admit I fell in love with the performance of Carl Zeiss optics over any. And the fell of the RTS III solid construction was nothing to disconsider. Having a great desire to put these wonderful performing optics into today's digital world: with the proper no glass adapter (glass will diminish optical performance) having the needed distance of lens to sensor plane, I chose the Canon 6D for the experiment. Good things are worth waiting for. Spoiled with today's auto focus, as to now going back to full manual in reality Canon 6D became my up to date Contax. If critical focus is needed; I can use live view and dub 10X magnification for better than ever precise focus. At hand held, keeping in mind the way things were done without today's advancements; I shoot completely manually. Yes, this is slower as to not meant for action shots, but that is completely fine. Tripod or handheld, some things are just worth that extra time for that WOW shot. These shots were taken handheld, Canon 6D, c/y Carl Zeiss 180/2.8, no flash. Enjoy

Up grading objectives. Better understanding sensors and pixel count.
A lot of models to choose from, how they differ makes a difference. How one chooses should be based on what is your objective. Like better in low light, fps, higher ISO,and the ability to cropped to mention a few. Cameras having the same count in pixels but being full frame differ not just losing the crop factor (1.5x as in Nikon vs 1.6 Canon), but you gain by having larger pixels. Size matter if you are after; fps count, having higher ISO, speed. As pixel count increases things slow down as to collecting light because pixels become smaller. If the use of tetephono lens is more of use, go with a the smaller crop sensor that will allow you to increase that zoom. Another factor when choosing a modern with its pixel count is how large of a print is of your interest. You have no need for large print, then cameras having large count of pixels is an over kill unless your plans is to crop. One other note as more pixel are added to that sensor, more room is needed for that memory card. I hope this helps you out in making the up grade. Have fun in and with your objectives.

If your main objective is to shoot wildlife, look into Canon 7D Mark II. It's has a shooting of 10 fps. Having a crop sensor; giving you more focal length 1.6x., getting closer. At 20 Mp,pixels are not too small; collecting more information, great in low light. Resulting in having ISO range 100 - 16000.

The more pixels, the closer they are to each other as they can over heat which causes heating problems. Noise then is the issue. You have a choose in camera models. Better details in pictures or having higher ISO's; less noise. Reason pro models have around 24Mp compared to higher Mp. Prefer higher Mp because I want details as to no need for those ungodly never though of higher ISO's. No need to go higher than 36.3 Mp. (Nikon D810), because of the high file size causing more time needed for using any photo solfware. Another note also is how large of a print is one making. If there is no need for making large print..... Higher Mp cameras is an over kill. Therefore reason for higher Mp.for me is to be able to crop and doing so in the end still having details. This information about pixel count relates only to DSLR's having a full size sensor having the area the same as the area in which 35mm film which measures 24x36 mm. Being 864 square mm. Think this as the area in which pixels are being filled in a basket. No change in basket size. The basket is full. Instead of pixels we fill the basket with apples. Two baskets, being the same size. However one basket has twice the number of Apples as the other. Each basket is indeed full. How can that be? Answer ... Apples in one basket is twice the size as the other, or can be looked at as being half the size the other. One camera having 25Mp compared to 50Mp means the pixel in the 50 Mp is half the size of the 25Mp camera. The sensor is filled completely regardless, of the size of collected l.
As pixel become smaller in size, that pixel collects less information. Same is true comparing different size sensor. Smaller sensor collect less information compare to larger ones. As sensors become smaller they become compressed, making each pixel harder to see until it is blown up enlargement. As if one pixel seems to blend into the next one. As larger size pixels are more define as more information can be collected compared to smaller ones. Advantage having more pixels...,. Unless you want to make Hugh poster being larger than 20 x 30. None. Reason for having more pixel then is being able to crop and have adequate pixels needed for a great printout. Disadvantage ..... File size. Using any solfware to make changes to a large file will take longer to process. When it comes to the issue is ISO. Processing within that camera is the issues as well as programing. Hope the size of pixel is now better understood. The following photo has been cropped. The original photo is about twice the area before cropped. Taken with Nikon D810.

Sharpness depends on lighting as well. Shadow lighting will dampen sharpness.

What do you want as to photographic hardware? Satisfaction? The best available? How much better can technology take us? Is this the time now to say I am very much satisfied with a 36 pixel camera. If not there's Canon's 50+ pixels. You think you need more? Most are not taking billboard size photos. Any great photo in which one will admire, will never know what camera in which that photo was used unless mentioned or perhaps blown to some sort of large in size. This is the time for getting the best. The future can only bring, not better cameras, but cheaper prices. For the money.... Sony leads. Why? Just like the calculator, everybody has one....... For me to buy another..... Pricing. Last purchased....... Nikon D810, great 36 Mp for cropping. Canon 6D....Great using an appropriate adapter in order to use c/y Carl Zeiss optics.

Nice attempt, how to improve the next try. For sharp hand held shots the minimum shutter speed should be at or greater than focal length. Your shot would of been better if shot at 1/1000 sec. Or faster. This can be done by shooting Av. Increase ISO and making any adjustments to squire that 1/1000 sec shutter speed. Bang! Sharper image.

New tripod and head for me,a new joy ..... Manfrotto 055 series tripod with XPRO 3 way head. Aluminium or carbon fiber can be chosen. Three or four section legs depending on need or budget. As for me I choose the 3 section carbon fiber tripod. For me ....... A great choice for using both canon 6D or Nikon D810.

Don't have a card reader? Some laptops have card readers already installed. Some notebooks have them as well, but if you have none, there is a solution with most digital cameras. A USB cable came with the camera in which you can plug into your camera to the computer. This is the simplest means to transfer or copy from a memory card in which is still installed in your camera.
And for reference, after being installed in your computer; those photos can be transfered to any device in which has bluetooth including your smartphone. Enjoy!

Who makes the best camera? Sounds familiar! Regardless of make, a camera is a dark box. Nothing so different here. In the heydays of film, all cameras took the same film (your choice here). Last and up most a good lens.,Ha! Ha!......Now that made the difference here. So that being said in which lens made the difference, one had to choose that optical difference. You wanted the best? Nikon! Nope...... Canon!.....Nope....... Minolta who started this auto focus in the lens? Nope........ Only the lens made a difference back then and the only answer to this question is the optics of Carl Zeiss. In 35mm format, that meant Contax. In, medium format; Hasselblad. Period. That's why serious photographer took that route. However now film,(being history) it's digital times. So, sensors are being used as to the question who makes the best sensor? Remember a camera is still a dark box.

So who makes the best sensors for DSLR's? Sony...... Period.
But with a needed sensor, processing is needed as well. So, who makes the best processor for this, Sony's sensor? Nikon.

Put the two together........... Nikon's D810. Now we have the best sensor, best processor; next item the lens. Again the only answer to this is......... Once again Carl Zeiss.

Look out Zeiss ....... Here, comes Sigma Art series..

3 things needed for an excellent DSLR. Great sensor, processor, and lens. Anything other than that are called bells, and whistles. And there are plenty that today cameras offer. Don't get me wrong...... I like those bells and whistles.

To all concern Nikon users of any resent Nikon camera or flash unit. You can down load Nikon app on your smart phone or tablet of their manuals ( Nikon manual viewer 2 ) for free. By doing so you can have these manuals at your exposure at anytime, when needed. Hope this be of help. I read cameras manuals before making such purchase. This allows me to be more familar of what a item of interest has to offer. Price for the Nikon D810 is having a $300.00 cut as B&H offers free camera bag, 32Gb memory card as well as a Watson battery. I get mine delivered on the 17th.

This will be my first Nikon full frame DSLR. As many, I too look forward as excitement flow through my vains.

It's about free money. You work for this money and the thieves of the world just take it. Man made laws, are made for getting free money at your exspence. Laws of Rome prove history repeating itself. We as a people are not to harm anyone one. The purpose of law is to protect one another from harms way. Speed doesn't kill, unless we speak of drugs. An accident is an unrehearsed event. Usually due to human errors or change in conditions. Obstructions, like the use of cellphones is more prone to abstract a driver then speeding. Taking someone's money by means of initiatory force is not punishment but a means of getting money that doesn't belong to you. As one to protect you from harms way, but harming you. I've lost respect of man made law, If you didn't work for it, it't not yours. It's long over due, protecting these parasites, ( Kings Monarchs, self appointed rulers, and any political figure.) Not to mention welfare recipients. As I didn't even mention subsidies. Need money? As many of us........ Get a job. As that means not one fabricated by government intervention. US govermental creativity by some bureaucrat creates not a job, but positions ) at the expense of those that work. This whole network of Governments has created a false globle economic network. And I could go on and on. Problem everywhere. Why? Man-made laws with the use of initiatory force........... Lack of ............ Laws of God. Printed and stamped on coins. In God We Trust................ Really?
