Morgan Family home, now derelict and need of some renovation, but still has loads of character in my opinion.

Hi, yes you are correct. The post was regarding Amazon UK. I have not bought from Amazon.com (USA)

You probably bought from Amazon USA as the OP bought from Amazon UK (from what I gathered).

Hi, It is possible Amazon US only purchase directly from Sigma. Due to inflated prices here in the UK, there is a big grey market from Hong Kong which Amazon have to compete against (DigitalRev/OneStop Digital/Ebay) However this should be made clear when you purchase from what is considered a reputable UK seller.

Wow, I just purchased a Sigma 10-20 wide angle through Amazon last week. Just received it and I did get the Sigma US warrenty. I guess I was lucky!!

Hi, just thought I would post this information. I am purchasing a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 and saw that Sigma are currently offering a EF610 Flash with the lens as promotion. I contacted Sigma and asked if lenses bought from Amazon UK were covered on this offer. Sigma advised that "Amazon have been removed from our ‘where to buy’ listing, as its recently been discovered that Amazon are purchasing Grey Imports, and not purchasing directly from ourselves, Sigma Imaging (UK) Ltd.
Therefore I’m afraid to say that purchases from Amazon would not qualify for the Sigma Imaging (UK) Ltd promotional offers"
Worth checking!!

Thanks, I think it shows what you can achieve with even a budget lens like the Yongnuo. Admittedly shot with Canon 5D Mk3 but we are all told its the lens that matters.

Hi Jerry, that building is the Millennium Centre, a Theatre Built in 2000. It is quite impressive inside as well, with fantastic acoustics.

Nice. What's that building?

I am waiting for my Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 to arrive, Looking forward to the 2.8 and OS this lens offers.

Just once, I made a decent move and sold the Canon 18-55 kit lens and bought the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 fixed aperture OS lens. Fast, sharp and great bokeh. Also sold the Canon 70-200 f/4L without IS and bought the IS version. THAT was a much better lens.

I agree, I used the 17-40 with my 7D whilst travelling. Just bought a Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 primarily for faster lens and benefit of OS.

I also have the 17-40 L on my 60d . I like to use as my walk around lense. I like it very much! Do not find the f4 to be much of a problem

I tend to agree, also the prohibitive cost of Canon L glass is a factor. 3rd Party lenses have their place, my Tamron 150-600mm and Sigma 105mm Macro are great lenses and I consider myself "a serious hobbyist photographer".

Sorry but I disagree. As an owner of several L lenses I also have many non L lenses that get the job done successfully.

I know hundreds of serious amateurs and pros that have been shooting and capturing excellent photographs for years using non L lenses.

Just L snob nonsense imho. Sure L lenses generally rock but they aren't the only option to making a great image nor does it give you an instant badge of being serious.

I have used my Canon 17-40 f/4 L on a crop sensor as standard zoom, which is nearly equivalent classic 24-70 on FF. it is also a bargain for L lens. Only draw back is F/4.

I agree, maybe it is a bit hit and miss with Yongnuo quality Control, but fortunate seem to have bought a good copy. I am tempted get the 35 mm f/2 based on the 50mm

Thanks, really pleased with IQ. Had a Canon 50mm f/1.8 which in my opinion was optically identical, for twice the cost!
