Reading all the comments, one would think this thread is about film - even though the OP made it clear four days ago that it’s about digital!

correct, and that is why i offered all the choices he/she might be able to make for medium format cameras with available digital film backs. the hasselbad H series are actually made by fuji photofilm and are very, every expensive. whereas the mamiya 645, for instance, with a digital back comes new for around $10,000.00. very inexpensive considering the fact it takes all the traditional film lenses from the original film 645 onwards.

I'm posting a few pix here. You tell me if having the subject in sharp focus is the only thing of value in these images.

Well, in adverse conditions - wind, rain, snow ... it's better to have a film changing bag at the ready (or, any kind of protective cover) ....

But, in situations like that, you aren't really expected to change lenses in no time flat ....

Only, inside ... and at outdoor events, like weddings, etc. ...

Some folks can do it, in their sleep, yaknow, Richard ....

using only film, as i do, and usually the 5x7 in the winter, a changing bag, for me, is an absolute must have. it can do an enormous amount of things in the cold!

2 Dfs, huh?

Then you've ALREADY gone digital, WJ ....

Pentax K-1, eh?

Not the highly-touted D850, huh?

But, of course, you could get TWO K-1s - for the same price as ONE D850, now, couldn't you? ... Dunno why I didn't think of that, before ....

nope, haven't gone digital had to use the 3 for specific assignments. sold them as soon as project was completed. couldn't get my head around the abstract. needed to have film to keep me happy - Linus and his blanket!

No video, but it looks almost identical to an F3 ....

i've owned 2 of the Df bodies and if i were tempted to use digital, that would, along with the pentax k1 be my go to bodies.

Check the f/64 manifesto. Again this is within the context of that philosophy. The definition of manipulation itself, of course varies from person to person. Given the limitless possibilities of processing and techniques employed by art photographers, I have begun to consider dodging and burning as not exactly manipulation give that the content of the scene has remained unaltered but again that is me. All opinions and views are welcome and should be respected.

we are in agreement.

Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume, Paris, June 17 –September 22, 2019
High Museum of Art, Atlanta, October 19, 2019 –January 12, 2020

For more than forty years, Sally Mann (b. 1951, Lexington, Virginia) has made experimental, elegiac, and hauntingly beautiful photographs that span a broad body of work including portraits, still lifes, and landscapes. Sally Mann: A Thousand Crossings explores how her relationship with the South has shaped her work. Some 125 photographs, many of which have not been exhibited or published previously, offer both a sweeping overview of Mann's artistic achievement and a focused exploration on the continuing influence of the South on her work. Mann's powerful and provocative work is organized into five sections: family, landscape, battlefields, legacy, and mortality. The exhibition is accompanied by a fully illustrated catalog with essays that explore the development of Mann's art; her family photographs; contemporary representations of the black body; the landscape as repository of cultural and personal memory; and Mann's debt to 19th-century photographers and techniques.
From the NGA Schedule: br br Sally Mann: A Thousa... (show quote)
