Depending on the drive and the LR actions, this configuration of placing the LRCAT also onto an attached drive may induce a performance hit. There's a "it depends" aspect to the long-term benefits of this approach.
Yes. But then just copy the catalog to the internal drive again and everything should be cool.

What you do with your own scanner, in your own home, is your own business.
They are your photos. You (or a family member) paid for them. Scan them in and enjoy.
Do you plan on selling them as art works? No. Do not worry.

My EHD is about to die. While it is still working, I want to make an exact copy. I am worried that LR will not recognize the new copy since my photos are stored on my EHD, and not on my hard drive on the computer. How can I remedy this. I am not the most technologically savvy person, as you can probably guess from my question. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Do not worry. As long as you occasionally back up your catalog to the external, you can just access that catalog and keep on going. The catalog has all the information about the editing you have done.

Try to arrive at the launch site early so you can shoot the balloon inflating. The flames are awesome in the early dawn light. A wide angle lens works well for this. Once launched shoot shots as your elevation increases and the same on descent. It will be really good if there are multiple balloons launching and you can shoot shots of the other balloons. In the air, a medium telephoto is good to shoot images on the ground.
And some post ride celebration shots are important to wrap up the whole experience.
Have a great flight.

This is about as much planning as you should do. Once you are in the air, shoot what you want and then stop shooting to enjoy the experience! What you see through your eyes and your heart is WAY more important than freezing your mind to make sure you don't miss a shot.
OK. Old joke, but as a Catholic with lots of Jewish friends, I will make it.
How many Jewish mothers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
None! "It does not matter! They never come to visit, so I just sit in the dark! Who cares if I ever eat? What is wrong with these children!?!? In my day, we respected our grandparents and parents!!!"
As A Catholic I recognize that Jewish guilt and Catholic guilt are VERY different. Jewish guilt is very personal. Catholic guilt is more egotistical. We Catholics believe we are responsible for and (somehow) control everything. Like "If only I had put my lunch dessert money in the offertory, four million children in Biafra would be alive today!" I mean, REALLY!!???!!! I just wanted a popsicle!!! The Good Humor truck was right there!!! But NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I killed children in Biafra!!!!
I know. I am 67. I really need to let go.
Yes, downloading an image to my computer is terribly difficult: 1) tap the Photos app to open it, 2) tap the image you want to download, 3) tap the icon that looks like a square with an arrow pointing up out of it, 4) tap the icon that's titled "Sam's iMac" and wait about 5 seconds for it to download [if you don't have an icon titled "Sam's iMac," tap the icon titled "AirDrop" and select the device you want to download to, in my case "Sam's iMac."
That is a LOT of steps. How about, plug it in, go to the file and move it.

I am heading to downsize and retire over the next year. Going to try apartment living while we figure out the right size (we just do not need our 4 BR place anymore) So, I am not buying a new printer yet, but after we settle down, this is the one I have been thinking about.
The ecotank idea is awesome!

Hi Hogs,
I’m going to be traveling to France with my French school and am on the fence as to which of my cameras I should take.
Choices are: Z7 with 24-70 2.8 S OR Olympus M1 Mkiii with 12-40 2.8 pro. I don’t want to bog down with multiple lenses and some of the people on the trip may want their pics taken. I won’t have lighting but will have a peak design travel tripod and my Kase filter set.
I’m curious to see what you have to say. This is my first time going overseas, so I thought traveling on the Club Med tour to Vittel le Parc would be a good trip to get my feet wet.
I’m primarily a landscape photographer and want to do my best to photo document the trip.
Thanks in advance for your input!

They are close in framing (I think the M1 is 4/3 is it not?) So I would go with the Z7 for all the other advantages of a FF camera.

Totally agree about buying sturdy cases and screen protectors. I’ve had several iPhones since they first came out in 2007, and have never had a cracked screen, thanks to cases, even though I’ve accidentally dropped them.
Whenever I see someone carrying a smartphone with a cracked screen, invariably there’s no case on it.
I constantly say to my son, with his cracked screens, “you can lead a horse to water ... “

I'll add one more suggestion. When you get a new phone, try to find one that lets you change the battery yourself.
