Are you sure you're not experiencing "atmospheric distortion" from far away distance cutting through vaporized water?

Excellent point, no, I'm not sure. These shots were taken about 1000.

I live near the Chesapeake Bay. I like to take pictures of ships. These ships are far away, near the horizon. I have been using a Canon T6S. When I use a Sigma 18-250mm Lens at F8 and I magnify the picture in Picasa, the result is terrible. My question is, if I decrease the lens opening by increasing the F stop will the image be sharper? Thanks for your help.

thank you very much, that is something we didn't hear back when we were in .USAF 1966 1970.

In the Navy from 1963 - 1970. Part of that in the Nuclear Navy working on the Staff of VADM Hyman G. Rickover. One of my worse memories was when I arrived at Logan Airport in Boston, a bunch of people, unhappy with the war, spit on me as I disembarked the plane.

What do you know or think about their 1 year warranty?
I recently bought a Canon 5D Mark III from them. The 1 year warranty was with "their own" authorized repair technicians. The next day, I got a call from them and for the low price of $125 I could get the same camera with a Canon warranty and a free battery. I took the deal (?) and received the camera in two days. It had a warranty card and I registered it with no problem. The battery was a genuine Canon battery. I have the feeling the ad on Ebay is a bait and switch deal. I will say it was still $200 less than anywhere else. All in all, it was a good deal and the folks were pleasant, no pressure. They are located in New Jersey and are not an authorized Canon dealer.

Here are some reviews:

Good luck.

I have been using 32G cards. I usually carry a laptop with me, however this time I will not be. I plan to purchase some additional cards for a trip coming up.

Anyone have any issues with using 64g cards in a D7100 or problems with transferring to a computer. Win 7 is the op sys.

Willie

I never use any cards greater than 16GBs because if you lose the card or it becomes corrupted you will only lose one forth of the pictures if the same thing happens to a 64 GB card. Cards are so inexpensive, it makes sense to me to carry a couple more cards rather than take the change of loosing pictures that I have taken. Good luck.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much, Chuck
Welcome to retirement. I did it 9 years ago and never looked back. I would go to your nearest Costco, Sam's Club, or BJ's and look at their Canons, but they also have Nikons in the same price range. Pick them up, see how they feel in your hands. If none of those warehouses are available, go to a Best Buy or a local camera store (if you have one), it is hard for someone else to pick a camera for you because only you will be holding it and carrying it around for years to come. Good luck!!

Since switching to Win10 and using Chrome, my Chrome pop-up blocker does not block pop-ups. It's turned on, but not working. Any suggestions?

I use AdBlock Plus, specifically made for Chrome. It works great, even after the upgrade to Windows 10.

Does upgrading to Win 10 involve re-installing all the programs that run on it? :?:

I didn't reinstall anything. Everything worked fine.

I also had a very pleasant experience. My only issue is that all my pages in various software like Word and Excel are now white. I wanted to change the color, but have as of yet been unable to. Anyone have that issue??

Had a great experience installing Windows 10 Home Edition. Except for the speakers not working from my Dell Dock for my laptop, which I solved with Walmart's help and $12.00.

The next challenge was cheaper, Windows has no DVD player. Go VLC.com and you can download one for free. Works like a charm.

Time to celebrate with a bowl of ice cream.

Are your external speakers plugged into the dock or directly to the laptop?

Docks are sketchy when it comes to compatibility on all the ports.

The speakers were plugged into the dock. I also plugged them into the laptop and I also plugged them into my phone. They didn't work anywhere. The speakers are about 10 years old.

So, I went to the nearest Walmart, paid $12.00 for a new set of speakers, got them home, plugged them in to the dock and they didn't work. I then tried them in the laptop and they did work. So that is what I will do. I really only listen to the local news radio station while I am on the computer, so they are fine.

The biggest issue I have found is that there is no DVD player software included with Windows 10. They tell you that when you try and play a DVD. So, the next project will be to find one cheap or better yet...free.

I have a different story. I have a Dell laptop that I have hooked up into a dock and use an monitor and keyboard and mouse. I had Windows 7 Home. I downloaded Windows 10, waited an hour or so and bam, there it was. I have only one exception, my external speakers don't work, only the speakers in the laptop. I will go online to Dell later and see what they can do. All in all, I was very pleased. I am not by any means a computer expert, but I do know enough to get myself into a lot of trouble, which I have done in the past, but this experience was very pleasant. I haven't used any of the Windows 10 benefits, but after the download it put me where I was when I started. So, I'm happy, now having said that the whole damn thing may blow up. Good luck.
