No, I'm not tired of birds but I'll make a comment - your cardinal is lovely and you did a good job capturing it, fosgood!

Yesterday was the carnival parade in LJ. Town was very crowded. Many people were dressed in costumes, mostly simple easy to put together ones leaning heavily on wigs, dark glasses, and pirate clothing. Much less cross-dressing than is typical of Halloween in the U.S. but, (sigh) there was one man dressed like a nun, a compulsion I will never understand. The weather was superb and everyone in a good mood. I was here last year for the Carnival but was much better prepared this year and wandered all over the place with the camera. Below is a sampling of what turned out to be a long and productive photo walk.

I enjoyed this fantastic set of the carnival parade. I was in Ljublijana when the country was still Yugoslavia. It was the last place our tour group visited after an extensive tour. I'll never forget the friendly people and the beauty of the country. Thank you for sharing these, frjack!

This past weekend the town of Cape Coral, Florida celebrated its burrowing owls with an annual festival. They invited all the owls to participate, and most of them were very obliging! Soon the owls will be spending more time in their burrows as they begin nesting. The owls can be seen all around town - owl fans have erected little crosses above the burrows to give them something to perch on - of course, they survived long before these little crosses went up and we saw none of them actually sitting on their human-made perches!

I love these, sb. I've been enjoying several posts of owls by fellow hogs. I'd like to be posting some but can't find any to shoot.

After researching, there is a locale fairly close to you that, recently, observed one. Here are the GPS coordinates: 42.9459155,-85.7170594 The location is called "Millennium Park--Trestle Trail ponds, Kent County, Michigan, US". Here is a link to a report and thank you for your words!!

I do know where Millennium Park is. I have a granddaughter who wants to take me there. We just haven't made it yet but I'm looking forward to going and it looks like I'll see quite a variety of feathered friends. It would give me a thrill to see the Merganser. I really appreciate your info, Pipkin. Thank you!

It's no wonder this dog is such a popular breed.

What a great capture of this beautiful dog, Bob. The portrait is like an oil painting.

...was quite productive! Here we have a male Hooded Merganser (DIF). There were two females, as well, raising their crest to be noticed. Pretty amazing morning, to say the least.

Adorable images. Those mergansers in the second picture are cute, cute, cute. I've never seen one of these birds and sure would like to.

Since I am a relatively new photographer and wildlife is my thing I love going to the zoo to practice...there are always animals about and I find that I have the extra challenges of trying to work around fencing, glare from glass enclosures and people. These were taken on my most recent trip. Critiques welcome please.

Splendid captures, Kim. You did a remarkable job avoiding the hindrances that can spoil a potentially good shot. I hope you'll be posting more images from other zoo trips. Binder Zoo is kinda far from where I live, but has my favorite big cat, the Cheetah. I'm fortunate to have two close by and am eager for warm weather so I can visit the inhabitants. Thanks for sharing, Kim.

Went to eat to a restaurant that is perched right next to a lake.
This lake is full of ducks, Cormorants and one and other type of birds.
This one did catch my interest. Not only because its beak had something stuck. But also because it loved to show off his wings and enjoy the sun bath.

I still have no idea what kind of bird is this.
