[quote=Remoman]It is public record and there are websites where sex offenders are listed.
Why not the same for gun owners?

So you think law abiding citizens = convicted felons.

MT, lucky you not working in Melbourne, Aus; cloning out power lines and the likes could cost you over AUS $ 200,000. And don't think you could do anything the same over here without being charged if caught.
This is a big ethical issue, not the least in the Real Estate business.

You are saying that, if an artist (painter) came to your area, and painted a landscape and didn't include the power lines, he would be charged with an ethics violation?

Wrong... see link- guns are not the most efficient, and this is really why the EASY blame game is specious.

This is the worst mass killing of school children in American history and no gun in sight.

Isn't it interesting that there has been no mention of this in the media and they consistently state that Sandy Hook is the worst such event?

It shows clearly that the media is out to use this tragedy for their political ends. How tragic that is.

Maybe they forgot about it because it was 1927!!!
BTW There were no Assault Rifles back then.
quote=MtnMan quote=RichieC br Wrong... see link... (show quote)

Just because the media didn't use that terminology then, does not mean they were not used. By definition an assault rifle is fully automatic. The favorite weapons of choice of the bad guys in the twenties and thirties were the Thompson sub-machine gun and the Browning automatic rifle, both are what are now known as assault rifles. The rifle used by this crazy person was not an assault rifle, it was a semi-automatic.

Has anyone tried out or purchased the new Canon 24-70 L II lens? If so, I would like to know what you think of the image sharpness and response of the lens. I have the mark I and I am disappointed with the results that are produced. A lot of my pics are soft. Is the new Mark II an improvement in picture quality with "spot on" sharpness? I know it's not my vision because I just had cataract removal procedures on my eyes and I'm seeing 20/35 out of both.

If you don't follow Roger's blog at LensRental.com you are missing out on lots of great information. Try these:

There are about 200,000,000 (200 million) working age adults in the US. Let's suppose that they all decided to be hard-working, lift-yourself-by-the-bootstraps Ayn Randian Republicans, and each struggled to earn $1,000,000 per year. Nothing greedy, just a mere million dollars a year.

That would result in gross income of $200,000,000,000,000 which comes out to $200 trillion dollars per year.

Small problem: Our gross national product is a mere $15 trillion per year.

So... where's the money coming from? How can all those hardworking, well-deserved people earn their million dollars?

And who's going to become a teacher, a policeman, a fireman, a waiter, a trash collector, an agricultural worker, a truck driver, a retail sales clerk, an electrician, a plumber, or any of a vast number of other occupations if they can't earn their million dollars a year that way, no matter how hard they work?

Inquiring minds want to know.

That makes as much sense as some guy in 1800 saying "There are about 1,000,000 (1 million) free, white, working age males in the US. Let's suppose that they all decided to be hard-working, lift-yourself-by-the-bootstraps Ayn Randian Republicans, and each struggled to earn $5,000 per year.

That would result in a gross income of $5,000,000,000 which comes out to $5 billion dollars per year.

Small problem: Our gross national product is a mere $500 million per year.

I would like to find out what memory cards other photographers carry on vacations. I would like to be able to use the video on my 5d II as well as photos shot in RAW. What type of card, what size card, how fast, and how many? On previous vacations I have shot about 800 high jpg. photos in two weeks.

CF cards are expensive and since your camera will take both I'd buy SD cards. It will only record movies that are up to 4GB is size at a time then you have to start another take. I'd buy class 10 SD's that are name brand in the 16GB to 32GB range since you are doing movies and RAW.

If you are using a Canon 5DMKii then you will use CF cards because that is the only format that it uses.

Question on converters ... I have a Canon XSi and Tamron lens (24-135, 70-200, and 200-500). If I look for a 1.4 or 2.0 converter, do I look for a Canon or Tamron compatibility? Or both? I have a converter that works on my 70-300 kit lens that came with the camera, but that doesn't work with the 18-55 lens that also came with the kit lens, so I'm confused on how to get them that work with what I have.

You probably won't find one to work with your 18-55. Canon says this about their converter/extenders "This tele extender can be used with fixed focal length lenses 135mm and longer (except the 135mm f/2.8 Softfocus lens), and the EF 70-200 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 70-200 f/4.0L, 70-200 f/4.0L IS USM, and 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS zoom lenses." Other brands will have similar requirements.

Why are so many Canon lens for sale [24-105mm is] I was going to buy one but I don't know now

Because Canon recently released the 5DMarkIII camera and the kit lens is the 24-105mm. Since the kits are readily available and bodies only are not, 5DMarkII owners are buying the kit and selling off the lens because they don't need it. They already have the lens they need to use on the camera.

B&H sells several different models - wired, IR wireless and rf wireless. I use a vello free wave rf wireless. It sells in the $35 to $40 range for most cameras. You can stand any place to trigger it; in the building across the street if you want, just as long as you don't exceed the transmitters distance.

I have properly used DOF calculators for several decades, especially with 4x5 view cameras at full bellows. Just because you have a photo of a calculator, doesn't mean that you know how, or when, to use it.

Let me help you use the website. Try this page

Fill in the camera and lens information for various equipment and compare the results. This site is one of the premier DOF sites on the web. It is doubtful it would have existed as long as it has if the information was incorrect.
