What LG display are you using? I am thinking of getting another 27" to go with my Apple Studio display.

Its an LG 5K Ultrafine. here is a link https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27md5kl-b-5k-uhd-led-monitor

However, its available on Amazon for just under $1,000.

Back when I got mine they were sold direct by Apple. That was when Apple discontinued their own large display. I can't remember the details now but there was some uproar about Apple discontinuing their own display and they were selling this one at a discounted price of around $600 (which is when I got mine). I have been really pleased with it.

Those rumors have been floated for five years. Maybe they will materialize. My take is that 27" would be nice, but marginally better at 5K than the 4.5K 24" iMac. 32" would make more sense.

Expect any larger iMac to be very expensive (no one should buy Apple's base iMac, with just 8GB memory and 256GB storage; it's not a good deal).

Yes, I know but they seem to be stronger lately. And yes 5K would make sense with a 27 or 32 inch screen. I have an LG 5K 27" screen now for my MacBook Pro but it would make a great 2nd screen for any new larger iMac.

Because the M* chip machines have a totally different architecture than the old Intel machines they are limited in they can not be upgraded after purchase.

All of the M* chips are quite a bit faster than most of the Intel machines by a factor of 2 for the M1 and 4 for the M3 (the max etc chips are even faster).

So you have a few choices:

M2 Mac Mini up to 28GB unified memory and up to 2TB SSD
M2 Pro Mac mini with up 32GB and up to 8TB SSD
Note: I have a M1 Mac Mini with 8GB and 1TB and it runs all of my software without issues including Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere plus On1 , Topaz Studio and Topaz Studio 2.

iMac 24 inch
M3 chip with up to 24GB unified memory and 2TB SSD

MacBook Pro

14 inch
M3 - up to 24GB and 2TB
M3 Pro - come standard with 18GB. Configurable up to 98GB (wow) and 4TB SSD
M3 Max - comes with 36GB standard up to 128GB with up to 8TB

16 inch
M3 Pro - 18GB or 36GB standard - up to 36GB up to 8TB SSD
M3 Max - 36 to 48GB standard - up to 128GB up to 8TB SSD

so you do have choices for more storage just not in the iMac
Because the M* chip machines have a totally differ... (show quote)

There are also rumors of a new larger screen iMac maybe 27” but also maybe 32”. I have a 2012 iMac 27” and do not want to go smaller so I am going to wait a while (6 months) to see if the rumors materialize. Also I suspect if they go larger they will include maybe the M3 and larger storage.

Hi all.

I am taking a trip next month (A river cruise in Europe) and have been trying to resolve a dilemma.

To all SONY users'

I am trying to decide the better option with the goal better IQ.

1) Trade my 2 kit lenses; 16-55 and 70-210 for an 18-135

2) Trade my NEX-6 for a A6600 and keep my current lenses.

Yes, I would like to do both, and probably will. but I am playing with a tight budget, and may have to wait.

I am aware that I am giving up a lot of reach going from 210 to 135, but my experience in Europe leads me believe I will rarely need that much. I do not want to change lenses. I am more concerned about going from 16mm(24) to 18mm (27) since there are so many landscape and architectural opportunities.

Any input from Sony users who have experience with the 135 would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I had a somewhat similar situation, although I already had the a6500 so it was a matter of lens choice for me. I had both kit lenses and wanted to trim down to one lens. I chose the 16 - 70mm f4 Zeiss lens. I could not be happier. It’s a compact lens so easy to carry, it’s a pretty good wide angle and the telephoto is long enough. I hardly ever needed the 200mm of my previous lens and with the quality of the 70mm Zeiss i can use the digital zoom or crop the photo later. It was the best decision I made.

It’s not as intuitive as the previous layout, but I will try it for a while.

For those who did not see the difference I am talking about. Normally I would have simply dismissed this as camera movement. I could not find similar movement elsewhere on the plane, and they are in two consecutive shots in a burst. Movement one way - then the other. I understand there is a logical explanation - that is what I am looking for. What caused this?

I would say it’s a relative difference in the Panning speed to plane speed. Even though all three were a burst.

Two odd news items today -

A woman was driving into a gas station, and she struck a row on EV charging stations, causing her pickup truck to roll over. They needed the jaws of life to get her out of the truck, and she's in serious condition.
How fast was she going?!

A fire that started in a chicken coop threatened a car and a home. Aside from electricity or a heater, what could have caused a chicken coop fire? Does anything in there generate a lot of heat?

Interesting, any photos Jerry?

To add a new folder you go to the library and look at the folder section of the left panel.

Pressing on the + gives you a dialog

selecting 'folder' gives you a folder. It sounds like you selected 'subfolder' instead.

So I created a subfolder 'Test' which now shows up on the folders list. It shows 0 files in the folder and is greyed out. But you can select it and either (1) press the - at the top of the folder panel or; (2) right-click the extraneous folder and select 'remove'. The second option is easier if the extraneous folder is way down on the list of folders.

Then you can go back and create the folder you want.

Good clear explanation. Maybe you can help with this:
I have all my photos on an external drive and the LRC catalog on my laptop. I have copied all my photos to another external (mobile) drive. How do I get LRC to look and use the photos from the new mobile external drive?
TIA.

Thank you. All the photos are from a single exposure, processed in Photoshop Elements. I imported them to Snapseed on my IPad. I used a touch of HDR in Snapseed, trying not to overdo it.

Very nicely done. Nice compositions and nice processing.
