My partner thought it a good idea to buy me a Lego Camera for Easter, so I thought it appropriate that the first pictures taken with it should be of her....

I assure you that the model was indeed sitting on the log. The background is not something that was added in!

Thank you for the clarification.

I am aware of the 'nostalgia'. I am also aware that there is no modern release (digital on the web) for these images if you want to push it all the way.

You can notice that I do not criticize the posing, composition and what not, just the lack of progress in colorization as there is no improvement from the #1 to the number #53.

I'm guessing the mottling etc is to protect the OP's image from 'borrowers'...
Lovely pic though

Thinking about it cropping it the other way leaving the space on the left and having the subject (you) looking out of the frame may better reflect the rebel in you?
As ever it's your picture and your choice, it's more important for a photographer to like his own picture then to cater for the opinions of others...

I think it might be improved if you cropped it so you were on the left one third vertical looking into the space on the right, or is that too conventional?

Why would I offer any suggestions to Tonne about his editing skills? I merely agreed with the observation that there is a lot of the same stuff. I rarely comment on, or view Tonne's images, as I well know what to expect.

I respect your choice of course, but I thought some helpful tips might be more useful to Jim and UHH as a whole, and I thought with your editing skills, you might be a good mentor for him.
No probs.

Easily explained. I do not hang around this section. I check once every six months or so to see if there has been some improvement. Yesterday... Well #1, #2, .../..., #53 of the exact same dismal work that does not improve over time.

Every time I check this I am baffled by the lack of quality, the horrendous comments on the models... Sometimes there is an original that shows originality and tries to break the boundaries. These folks do not fit the 'norms' and are quickly sent packing. Few are posting stolen images, I spotted a couple and had them banned.

Every time I post my opinion on what I see, a controversy starts. I once criticized the tawdry pictures posted as being out of place on UHH. (Phipinnas - spelling - in various stage of undress in an equally tawdry 'navy' bar). To me that was simply disgusting, a catering to the basest instinct of a few here, not 'art' or even 'a photo journalistic essay'.

Rongnongno is simply stating that the images are boring and repetitious, which is his right as a UHH member. And c'mon, there has been a heck of a lot of these pictures, hasn't there. Others (me included) agree. Others, on the other hand, like them. Simple as that. I can't see where he has said Tonne shouldn't post his pictures; he is merely making a simple and honest observation.

You two are funny.
After 50 odd pics Rongnongno says they are repetitive but until that point has not offered any advice on how to improve Jim's workflow? So what part of his criticism isn't saying that Jim should stop posting.
I am more surprised at you though because I know how good your editing skills are, so perhaps you could suggest some ways that Jim could improve his skills?

Nitpick all you want.

DEFAULT settings, I do not care about the result offered other than to show that improving the B&W makes a world of difference.

yep and isn't that exactly what Jim has been doing, in his own way, working on his fifty year old negs and improving them in his way, probably without any outside training? You complain but you don't suggest ways in which he could improve his workflow?

You seek to say that he should not post any more, yet he still has his admirers?

You suggest that I should 'stop looking at nudes' and then post a picture of lemons under the title "NSFW or is it"? So do you think that UHH should delete the "Nude Photography, Boudoir Photography, NSFW, Discussions and Pictures" category and replace it with one where we can post pictures of fruit and vegetables masquerading as something else?

To show what a difference can be made using a better B&W image... Using #53 as a sample...

This took ma all but five minutes in PS CC:
- ACR for the B&W changes
- Changed to RGB (16)
- Neural filters
 - Colorize (default settings)
 - Remove JPG artifacts (default settings)

It took more time to type and post this!!!

Now, imagine if the original poster looked at his 'originals' and improved them first (I used ACR as a sledgehammer) before going onto colorization...

Thank you for the update, I wasn't aware of that, perhaps the shadowy moderators ought to reinstate or remove it?

Take your own advice, please.

Perhaps I didn't explain clearly enough for you, in which case I am truly sorry.

I'm not talking about the 'UNWATCH' option at the top of the tread, but referring to the facility detailed below:

Click on the Users name you don't like, to see their profile.
On that screen select the option button "Add To Ignore List."

So now you won't have to see any of that Users posts.
