why not the 24-105 and 100-400 and just cover everything with only 2 lenses? you'll be regretting not having reach and if anyone has to ask if a tripod is necessary, then I rest my case taking primes other than maybe a pocket lens? .... have a safe passage and at least take a monopod or a table tripod, for any lens you do decide taking ...your camera is not some forgiving over compensating save the day piece of gear and actually requires a little mastery technique wise, especially for above average results ..so support is more vital to your results as I see it than any lens....

They don't compare actually, Affinity is slow as molasses and often stalls for me. On the same system I have CS6 which operates without flaw and quickly. I have consulted with the forum and there is no use...I'm updated with the latest stable versions, no beta is available I know of and if it were I would in no way want a beta for a product stable that is worse than most beta programs?

Does it do good or better? Maybe with some RAW files it does, I like the way it processes noise and dust/scratches on those features provided, the Haze Removal and the Live Filter Layer features are great tools from a Landscape perspective. There are some unique features and unique tools, it has many pluses but the deal breaker is.....

Speed, and couple in a reliability factor, crashing and "not responding" then responds, waiting while it goes in and out wondering if it's going to crash again... how long is this going to take to do this..... when Adobe just does it seamlessly on my same machine? I don't think so, cheap price means crappy stability ...get what you pay for so if cheap is what you want?

(I really like the focus stacking feature they have incorporated, offered is Panorama, New Stack, New HDR merge, New Focus merge.... experimentation is required some groups do better stacked and some do better focus merged ...it depends and the great part is you have options to try .... that actually do vary. It's superior to Photomerge, Focus Merge is...I believe. I would not place too much stock in opinions regarding any photomerge system though, I don't believe enough people weed out and/or create additional images to enhance things adequately ...sometimes one or 2 images don't belong and even if there only 5 total, you can compensate by tossing 2 out and using the merged combinations of the 3 left to create new images for replacing the two tossed out selections,,,,I mean something tipped the process off to not use them so why?...often with photomerge it will select 99% of one image out several, effectively not merging anything but one image ...because the mask has 99% of all the images blacked out ...what is the point of that?)

If you fire off 5 quick shots using a tripod, however you choose to do so .... you will have 5 separate images generated and you can combine them in Photomerge on CS6 like I use, Photomerge is going to select the most optimum image or parts from these same images to make one, what it chooses to mask out is very revealing sometimes. Especially if it selects to reveal 100% or so of just one shot out of the 5? Remove that one from the mix and Photomerge the other 4 left, create the best single image from those 4 into one? Take this new image created and photomerge that with only the one removed first? It will still provide the same results and your new creation of 4 into 1 will get booted....and that first one it chose will still be chosen, mostly...if not all of it again and the 4 into 1 will be blacked out in the mask.... yes I allow it to analyze shots

The old historic Roadside Parks..... western UP. Built by Henry Ford in the day, they mark waterfalls galore and other highly scenic places with trails. The best value in Michigan, which is genuinely a rip off for tourist. The local police in most scenic areas are ticket happy, the municipalities offer parking meter spots that also require a permit just in order to use that spot and feed the meter...not kidding. Down in tooty fruity Traverse City on the mitten, you can find scenic places where if you stop to look...you get ticketed immediately. State Parks cost $24 for an out stater to visit? Don't get caught with a drink in your hand near any beaches btw? That PURE MICHIGAN? The UP is better by far and is mostly free ... T falls cost, I believe there's better views for free ....too bad the best view in Michigan is on top of a Great Dune platform in the mitten though... they have that one, although just west off the Bridge and along that cost is a pretty great scenic view, Door County is visible from there ...avoid the middle of the UP is all I say...

Marquette, a huge relief from the mitten ... a National Park level "city park" on the west edge of town along the lake, probably a signature of what people visualize when you speak UP and Superior? Remarkable iron ore processing center at the base of those mountains south and west.... a gateway to real solitude heading west or north, very sparsely populated and lately largely unvisited and suffering immensely from that ...many things closed up.

The northern coast of Lake Michigan, the southern coastal strip of the UP is paradise lost, once this huge Mecca for vacationers and known for hunting and fishing, Great Lakes Whitefish ...smoked fish.... well, it's like a ghost town now, few places are left and it reminds me of Route 66 ...places time forgot. The one thing that has not changed though is the scenery or the wildlife...

The center of the UP is the second most boring place known in america, 1st is US 50 through kansas....

Got to love that water in the UP, I hate it...disgusting and nothing to like...waterfalls suck because they are all brownish and stained looking by the iron ore deposits

The Painted Cliffs..... worth the cost to visit

To wrap it up, I wouldn't entertain anywhere but Marquette if I were going, basing there and exploring west ..... Marquette is a real city, you can tell when you get there...that it was meant to be and be what it is ...no one forced it here and the place just welcomed it ....it belongs and it very much carries that feeling and will make you feel like you belong ...it just comes across as what a good home should feel like and be ...(although not in the winter for me)

When I was 10 my parents took me on a 30 day camping trip that encircled the entire Great Lakes, 54 years later I can't avoid returning .... in fact I'd like to be there now, of course with a bottled water

I normally prefer having a lens on my camera, but if you prefer having what others insist is what you need...then who are you shooting for them or you? Your feet control the best all around lens there is...the ones attached in your head and connected to your brain? After that it's up to you on who you want to shoot for using your gear? You or the ones telling you what to get? Rent, rent, rent, try, try, try ... but I will promise you this, sooner or later you will convince yourself there is something better and it's because you're brain damaged into believing new is better...who markets the truth anyway? What you should convince yourself of is, there are lenses that achieve things differently ...not better, bestest, or best, "different" so there is no Good or Bad, what there is different light and different ways lenses handle it.... there is no all around lens, ebay is proof of that unholy grail.

The OP was correct on Panasonic, they were extremely responsive to me and they certainly helped me, but that's only remarkable to anyone who has experienced an issue.... if you haven't experienced something then how accurately could you possibly imagine it? People telling people how they were treated, good or bad. Unfortunately the scale is flooded on one side, all people seem favorable about doing today is being negative or negatively attacking anything positive. It has become almost cautionary to proceed today ...in general. Critics criticizing critics, wth...eck

That's what all the mirrorless guys say one time only you do know?

'It's not like we were born with a mirrorless, they just changed us is all...you will get it or you won't is all I'll say, regardless it is a whole other unique perspective and best or bestest is irrelevant'

I can assure everyone here this about software, if you want very slow and unreliable, constant crashes and pretty much the same feel and aroma of the classic performance of a 56K dial-up modem because your a nostalgia freak?

When the picture came up I thought really nice scenery. But when I scrolled down the guard rail IMHO detracted from the image. So all I can say is that I really like the top half.

I do not agree, if per say, the image was cropped in an upper half lower half split in some way? The Guardrail could be a guardrail anywhere who would know? The background answer where it is so therefore it's necessary. I'd say if it were cropped into 2 images, then 2 nice snapshots ...as it is, it's a photograph that tells you something ?

in Missouri, I have full colors starting as early as mid October to well into Nov, and peak last about a week long ...depending on conditions. There is absolutely no point in reading the guides because that is like a 3 week variance for when peak week can hit, sometimes mid Nov even...making it a 4 week wheel of fortune spin. I've been photographing both the Ozark Plateau area and the St. Francois Mountains area, my whole life. The Tropical storm was supposed to bring heavy rains early this season, it missed huge areas in Missouri and it has been a very dry season as a result. I fear it may be too late because what happens is Alberta Clippers start blowing in from the Northwest in Fall and dry leaves go bye-bye fast. What I believe we will have here is another not-so-great fall, about 7 in a row below average colors. I think Midwest wise, Northwest Iowa and Southeast Wisconsin, may be prime spectacles considering the moisture received in those areas.

Until Global Warming really became a recognizable issue, Fall Colors were predictable and reliable in Missouri (2 years ago we were peaking in the second week of Nov, last year was about the same a few days earlier not much. When I was young, Oct 31 usually meant all the leaves gone .... )

Our nation's symbol is personified by a female....

The female bald eagle is the largest and dominant of the species, she chooses her mate based on when he lets go from a free fall with her to Earth...if he lets' go too soon? Not worthy, hit the bricks .....

Our symbol of strength is a female in the USA

That's significant....

Now that you read this? It's almost October and this is when Osprey start to migrate through the flyways along waterways. Another very family oriented Hawk but not at peace with Bald Eagles, a hawk that needs lots of room and some privacy to raise its young. When you look the skies now, you will remember what I told you and try to determine which gender you see. Eagles are actually Hawks btw, just a bigger class ...\but as the saying goes it is not the size of the dog in a fight, it's the size of the fight in a dog that matters....Redtails are some BAD hawks ...that will attack any eagle anytime ...but in tandem, they aren't stupid. They will ambush a Bald Eagle motoring along from out of no where .... boom! Bald Eagles will drown in water if they get wet, an osprey shakes out like dog and lifts out of water from any location ..Bald Eagles have to swim for shore to save their lives and then wait to dry out, where ground predators can get them?

Woman should carry a Bald Eagle as a symbol of their power?

insignificant yet enchanting, is how I see myself. If you come near me I will smother you with BS to distract you from the reality of me...

wait, that's normal then isn't it? I'm just normal then? Huh?

Any time anyone suggest placing something extra between my sensor and the subject, I will lose IQ ....the first thing I use to accomplish this fact is a lens

There is absolutely nothing to gain by addition in Photography, providing a reason serves no purpose other than to self serve my own vanity

For something to gain it requires the borrowing from something, for every gain there is a loss somewhere

Even a UV filter degrades IQ for that matter

Amazon, has what appears to the the exact equivalent of the Promaster SystemPro Jr. Ball Head for $15.99 there... and this same company producing these in China is making the parts for all those "serious" ball heads costing $200 or more...the quick release camera plates are interchangeable with Manfrotto ball heads?

You can buy into all the sales pitches you desire and listen to the God of Photography himself for advice?

But for $15.99 having this Ball Head will make you a much more intelligent photographer ?

(walk into a thrift store and buy a great tripod, the one missing a quick release plate no one wants is the best! only $6 ?)

I figure the people paying way too much for stuff they will barely use, probably will scatter it around and lose things ...only to donate it later ....and are my best sources. I'd rather spend $5 at Goodwill and search Amazon for a Head or a new mount plate, complete with a quick release plate ...under $16? Do the math.... $20 total or $400 ?

Now you are armed with new information, that makes you more intelligent than someone who spent $400 instead of only $20 in my book ....and I rest my case, unless being fashionable trendy and adorning yourself with name brands is most appealing?

There's a lot that could be said about someone who announces they hate focusing I'll say that much, probably not much to say regarding their work though....

I use an AR adapter, Canon FD adapter, Olympus adapter, Rollei adapter, M42 adapter, Minolta adapter.... my best landscape lens is a 20mm 1.7 II Lumix.

However my Hexanon 28mm F3.5, it has to be a specific version and not the last 5 element version, I have that one as well ...is the best manual focus landscape lens I've used in 50 years of shooting.....my cleared Minolta MC 28mm F2.5 has the most appealing quality of any 28 I have ever used, and Nikkor 28's are like clinical standards. In 35mm I prefer the convex SSC 35 f2 Canon, very decent wide-open.

But that's what I found using my Panasonic gx8 and this should be the most important part, your results may vary.... it matters everything towards what camera you choose, some lenses like some cameras and some cameras don't like certain lenses. To sit here and be honest? The most useless info out there is some person spouting off how great a lens is while providing no reference to what he is shooting with? Those Chinese adapters are a crap shoot...many people don't even realize how bad and terribly inconsistent the quality control is ..."the worst" there is, it's China for crying out loud China - Cheap - Crap

What I shoot, how I shoot, what I shoot with and my techniques are not something anyone can duplicate and add in the variables of my particular samples I obtained along with all these years of experience, how does someone new and inexperienced know they have a good sample? I say ...my goals shouldn't be yours and your results shouldn't be mine .... why does it matter if I like a lens to someone? how does that matter? I never understood the relevance or importance in that. ....price is usually a fair indicator of "good" in this field and relying on that factor you have a consistent guide, not perfect because my logic still can't explain the Minolta Mirror 250mm, the worst IQ for the money on earth ....
