With softer images and a little extra noise, I have used Matte paper for the print--seems to hide of lot of imperfections. Might work with this image. Just a poor man's work-around.

Hello,
I have a D7100 with a 17-55mm 2.8 lens. I’m interested in the Nikon 12-24mm f4 lens for wider angle photos when I do group photos indoors with flash. My question is how much of a difference would I see with 12mm vs. 17mm? Thanks!!

I once asked my brother the electrical engineer what the difference was between 3G and 4G--his response was... 1G!

But back to photos--I like the wider anger of view in general, but especially for indoor family gatherings. Given that I shoot ambient light almost always, my only comment would be that I've had some trouble with the flash not providing full coverage--probably due to lack of practice using the flash on my part. Bounce flash works though.

Canon 7d with 10-22mm zoom, Speedlight (if/when I remember to bring it along)

And yes, he-my brother that is-did not offer any further explaination beyond 1G--still a good guy. Wish he had had an illustration as above though.

I've decided (but I haven't taped them to the board yet) that I'll be consistent and enter all prop shots...the Red Bull (I up-sized it in PSE and reprinted it on a 13x19 sheet), the Skip Stewart because of the split-second timing, and Team Aeroshell (below) since I already had it dry mounted.

Good luck, let us know which one won and why.

I'm having trouble deciding which pics to enter in an end-of-year contest for my photography club. I have one of them picked out on a prior thread (Team Aeroshell), but can enter up to three, B/W or color. I kind of want to add a jet pic and another prop pic, but it doesn't matter. Here are my current choices - I think they all have a shot IMHO.

I'd vote for #1--tells a story as apposed to #3 (a flying plane).
For my second it would go to #4--I like the pattern of the photo, and again tells a story--of precision as previously suggested (at least in my mind).
I also like #2, but I'd like to see more of the exhaust stream--i.e. both the fire and the smoke--maybe it'd be even more dramatic that way?

Good luck regardless of which you submit.

I have several thousand slides that I'd like to digitize. Who has what scanner? - how fast/slow is it? How convenient to operate?
Would it be better just to send them out somewhere to have it done instead? I do have time on my hands.
Thanks for any suggestions offered.

I have just acquired maybe 100 5" x 7" glass "slides" from the 1800's. I tried the scanner with limited success, using light table and camera works better and is faster also.

(The gentleman in front of the tent is my wife's G-G-Grandfather. He was good at hiding the string, but this is a selfie!)

Actually, I taped the slide to a north-facing window.

Heading to the desert of CA in about three weeks. If anyone has any tips on must see sights to photograph I would appreciate it. Thanks.

We stayed at the Shashone Inn/motel years ago. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it due to its location being about as far out of the way as possible. We didn't know how to gauge the size of the park I guess--it's HUGE. It is worth a stop there however if you're interested in history. Also, if you had a little extra time, there is a date farm--like the food date--out there someplace, don't remember exactly where but it's not part of the park as I recall. Nice tour, never knew I liked dates before that!
Plan on driving a fair amount regardless, don't forget the water, take warm clothes too--gets cold during the nights with wind too and I assume you will want to get out early in the morning for sunrise. Oh, the wind reminds me--watched a fellow photographer watch his camera/tripod get blown over the barrier and down the mountain side. I didn't see if the camera survived or not, but I know he was able to retrieve it.
Have fun, post some pictures!

Mia, you should click "Quote Reply" so we know who you responded to. Judging by your response, it seems like your just joking around.

Not to be blunt, but nobody here is going to answer her(?) questions. This is a prank.
Admin should probably delete her(?) account--rather harsh treatment--but appropriate IMHO.

Hello everyone! I am new to the forum, though I was recommended this page to get any help I may need. I am a high school student taking a photography class, so I obviously don't know as much as you. It would be great to get answers!! Haha.

Long story short, when I take pictures, I get either glowing, or faint circles in my photographs. This happens with my Canon digital camera (pretty sure it is a 35mm), and my small (and old) Nikon camera (I have to check, but I think it is 16mm). This is not water on the lens, fingerprints, or anything on the glass. I don't know what this is...

Also, the photo that I posted was NOT taken with flash... So this is not flash photography. They dont appear in every picture, and only sometimes. THIS IS NOT MY PHOTOGRAPH, because the photos I had wouldn't upload to my computer... But these circles are the same as the ones in my photos. I will see if I can get my original photos up soon.
Thanks for listening and hopefully answering me!!
