Bear Island is in the ACE Basin of South Carolina.
Just getting up to speed.
Do you have a filter on this lens, if so take it off and shoot a couple of shots to see if this makes a difference. I had this problem when I was shooting with my 60-600mm Sigma and it made a world of difference.
This pair was definitely in a hurry.
The first shot is as out of the camera. The second shot is my learning some of the post processing features of my software.
Canon 1Dx Mark II, Sigma 60-600mm, f/6.3, 1/800, ISO 800.
Just some info about how I got this shot. Went down to Stephen C Foster State Park for a 3 day weekend. We were driving down the Suwannee River Sill when we spotted this cottonmouth beginning to cross the road. We stopped about 15 feet pass it and got out to photograph. Snake had it’s head up about 4 inches looking at us and I started to shoot but did not like the angle and remembered what I had learned from Jared about shooting at eye level. As the snake did not look like it wanted to interface with me I laid down on the roadway about 10 feet off of it’s right side. Shooting with my Canon 1DX Mark II and a Sigma 60-600 lens I was hoping to capture the snake with it’s tongue out. One of my companions asked if I wanted him to engage the snake to get it to open its mouth and I told him that I did not want to harass the snake just to get a money shot. And yes being 72 it took me a few seconds to get down and a few more seconds to get up, but I never felt threaten by it.
Not sure, but it could be me.
To get eye level with this Okefenokee Swamp Cottonmouth.
