I don’t know if it’s a case of gas, seeing the writing on the wall, or both. I’m seriously looking into getting a Z6. I’ll keep my D750, at least for now, for sports shooting.

I want to know if anyone has gone from a D750 to a Z6, and if so what your thoughts are on the switch. I have the $, so that is not a factor. I will be selling my D7200 equipment, though, as it will only collect dust with the addition of the Z6.

Thanks for your comments,
Dana

I'm curious. What do you see as the benefits of the Z6 over the D750?

I just found out an interesting feature...

When using the D850 on live view mode, you can pick your focus point (mode S). The camera focuses, and takes a capture.

I just tried it to make a stack for focus...

I interpreted that to mean you can touch where you want to focus the shot and then the camera takes over. focusing and capturing the image.
That is pretty 'handy". With my, now old but faithful, D600 I need to move the focus spot to where I want it, focus using BBF and then squeeze the shutter release. Maybe it's time to think about a GAS attack!

I like that! just plain and simple, like it. Everything about it.
I hope a print of it is on your wall.

Incidentally, 16MP with APS-C is the same pixel density as full frame 36MP

When I decided to do the math the results shocked me! That old (2013) D7100 has a sensor density of a 50MP+ full frame sensor

The only case where we could reasonably say the AA filter was "removed" is in the update from the D800 to the D800E.

You can't remove something unless you put it there in the first place. The D780 may seem like it's an upgrade from the D750 but it's still a new model.

The AA filter either there or it isn't - neither added nor removed. But that's a quibble.

We have gotten mixed messages from Nikon where they tried to explain why the D800 with the filter might be a better choice for most photographers over the D800E without it. Then they released the D810 without it. Does that make the D810 an upgrade from the D800 or the D800E? Go figure.
The only case where we could reasonably say the AA... (show quote)

Nikon said they found that a filter wasn't needed for high density sensors. I think the 'need' with "HD" sensors might have been obviated somewhat by the lack of effectiveness

Understood, but does it have the AA Filter? I had thought it did not.

The D7100's 24 mp sensor has a pixel density equivalent to a FX 36mp sensor and it does not have an AA filter.

I wasn't correct! It seems the D7100 has an even more densely packed sensor than I thought. If you do the math the number of pixels per sq. mm on the D7100 exceeds that of a FX 36mp

I didn’t think FF was a requirement to eliminate the AA filter. My D7100 is a DX and I am pretty sure it has no AA filter.

The DX sensors have a higher pixel density than a FF sensor of the same pixel count.

In the article they speak of the technology applied to electric cars giving them a range of 1000km/621-mile range. That sounded great until I searched for recharging times and they were suspiciously absent. Drive for 10 hours, charge for 40???

With Nikon up to 24MP full frame the AA filter has been used. Above 24MP it is not. Seems Nikon feels that above the pixel density of a 24mp FF it is not (effective?)needed to prevent moire'.

A 35mm was always on my cameras from the 70s to the 2000s. For me at least it was the perfect every day lens.

If you include in your considerations that many who take landscape photography seriously, prefer to shot early or late in the day for their work, then yes a tripod is necessary. The lower light of those times is the ruling factor.

This was my BSA "Lightning A65" A 650cc twin. It was fast for those days (112mph)
and heavy not a particularly safe combination as it had cable operated drum brakes, but, by the Grace of God, I survived.

The picture was taken in 1966, after it had received some modification, with a Polaroid Land Camera and scanned a few years ago.

Edit: The BSA A65 was the bike fitted with missiles and used in the James bond film "Thunderball"

Thank you for posting that as it brought back a funny memory. The first motorcycle I tried to ride (back in '59) was a 500cc single cylinder BSA. I had no idea of what I was about to do and let out the clutch far too quick. I was on my back in less than a micro sec.

PS: I have a picture somewhere of my '72 Honda 450. They could be cousins from how similar they look

I do believe Tony Northrup. I know what he talked about. I know when he is right and when he is wrong. In this case he just doesn't know but he said so because he no longer likes Nikon cameras. He also is wrong in telling people to kill JPEG. He was wrong also in saying ISO is fake.

he no longer likes Nikon cameras

YouTube opinions and prognostications should be taken with a huge grain of salt.
Remember that the video you’re watching was produced solely (for the most part) for personal gain and/or gratification. Altruism is seldom the motivator.

According to Tony Northrup's very recent You Tube, "Nikon is Dying", Nikon is going out of business unless they change things quickly. What do you think?

Northrup has been bad mouthing Nikon and their products for a quite a while now. For me at least his veracity is in doubt
