The upside to MFT equipment is it's so cheap. the downside to MFT equipment is the resale is even cheaper. I personally look at MFT prices as a positive thing, not negative. Such is life in the world of digital photography.

Is the return to the seller about the same as on Ebay? I'm finding that street prices aren't too good for m 4/3 equipment. Too many great prices for old/new as they put out all the new stuff and rumors of new stuff.

Without a doubt you won't get a lot for this lens but then none of us paid a lot for this lens. And yes, the 100-400mm is more expensive than the 100-300mm but compared to what I paid for a Nikon 600 F/4, the 100-400mm is a steal. I know these comments are relative but it really is a superb value compared to what I've spent on Nikon equipment the past 35 years.

I've had those suspicions that it really is a 200mm f8 lens. With a lot of us wanting to sell, I'm not sure what we'll get will make much of a dent in the 100-400 cost!

So interesting to hear your comments about not being able to figure out how to get consistency from the 100-300mm. I've felt the exact same way over the years I've shot it. I sometimes get great images where I can't believe it's a $500.00 lens and other images that I go, "ok...., well that's what I was expecting.". Very strange why it sometimes is great and most times so so.

Without a doubt you will see major difference in sharpness, speed of the AF motors in the lens and overall better build and quality. I can tell you from experience, I have two 100-300mm lenses, there is no comparison between the new 100-400mm Leica and the old 100-300mm zoom.

Your videos and photos have been impressing me! Thank you!

Would you answer an awkward question please? I picked the Panasonic 100-300 for wildlife a couple years ago to avoid monster sized Nikanon gear. To go with it, I bought the GX7. I've had some results I'm happy with, but not always. For lack of more precise words, it doesn't always seem as "sharp" as I would like.

Beyond additional reach, will I notice a significant difference with the new 100-400?

Thanks.

Daniel, the creator of this post, supplied another video of using this camera yesterday. In this case it is in some snowy conditions.

Suntouched,

I've been interchanging Olympus and Lumix lenses regularly. I'm a huge fan of the Lumix system, much easier to operate than Olympus in my opinion. I know there are others that feel differently but for me there is no contest. If you are interested I write regular about all things MFT and other subjects on my Blog at http://naturalexposures.com/corkboard/

You can read more specifically about all things Lumix here: http://naturalexposures.com/?s=Lumix

Some videos about my work with Lumix here: https://www.youtube.com/user/danieljcox

Happy to help if you have any questions.

Any Gx8 users out there? Feedback for landscapes? Feedback for action shots? And are you using with Panasonic lenses or Olympus lenses?
I have read that this camera does not play well with Olympus lenses- (not sure if it refers to Olympus lenses without IS or all) -can anyone address that?
Does the Pany dual IS system work with any 4/3 lens that has IS or just with Pany lenses?
I am considering the camera but I have 2 Olympus lens that I would like to keep and use with it- 45mm and 12-40 mm 2.8. I am also considering the new 100-400 mm lens- ouch!!
Thanks for the feedback. I looked at consumer reviews but the above was hinted at and not really addressed in detail.

For those interested in sticking with Apple you may want to hold on before switching from Aperture. I'm waiting to see what Photos brings us. I think the concept behind what Apple has planned could be revolutionary. Hi guys, I saw that my explanation of Program Mode on my Blog was featured as a link to explain how it works. If there are any other questions on this topic I'm happy to try and answer them. I've used Program Mode almost exclusively since the 90's. As I mention in my Blog post, Canon's Program changes back to what the camera suggests once the camera goes to sleep. Nikon stays put where you set it. I've recently found that Sony also acts like Canon and Panasonic acts like Nikon. That being the case I don't suggest Canon and Sony shooters use Program but rather Aperture Priority. Nikon and Panasonic Lumix users have the added benefit of their cameras keeping the setting they choose so feel free to use the amazing Program Mode. It's liberating.
