I shoot beside folks that shoot it all the time, and Canon shooters. If you have read my posts, I have stated that when the boys (that's the Nikon Z9 shooters, Canon shooters, and my Sony a1) compare the same shots from the same bird flying we have noticed that the Nikon Z9 results always include frames that are not in focus vs. the Canon and Sony shots that are in focus.
Again, I am not nocking the Nikon system, it is excellent. But the results are what they are, Nikon on a series of shots will loose focus in a series for some reason. I cannot tell you why, and it's not just one Nikon Z9 shooter reporting this, is is many. Again, I have seen the results with my own eyes.
HAVE YOU?

...well sure I have, I've owned a Z9 pretty much from the beginning and I'm plenty happy with it. I've *learned* it. There are many many pros shooting Z9, and if there's one thing they, and me, have in common is that constant battle to get better...not just images but operating the equipment. You've made a choice and have stuck with it, and it seems like you're firmly away from Nikon. Bravo. Your work is fine and I've commented on that fact before. But this is a *Z9* thread, eh? AFA your side-by-side comparison that's anecdotal at best. I feel quite sure you'd LIKE operating a Z9 and master it quickly, much more quickly than those you're rubbing elbows with.

As a long time Nikon shooter I am thankful that Nikon has tried to fix the many problems with tracking and focusing with 5, yes 5 firmware updates to the Z9.
However, the Z9 is still not up to par with Canon or my Sony a1 when it comes to focus tracking, lock on, and in general birds in flight keeper rates.
I do appreciate Nikon's persistence in working so hard in attempting to catch up with Canon and Sony.
I wish Nikon the best of luck in trying to remedy the elephant in the room so that someday they can stand with the two other camera manufactures that have already cracked the focusing code.

Just curious...when's the last time, if ever, you've shot with a Z9?

Yes it is a night game. I thought the noise was pretty bad for the settings. Thank you

...when I had my D500 I wasn't in love with its noise factor at night under, usually bad, stadium lighting. That said, even with my D5 and/or Z9 I will reduce shutter in order to denoise the shots. I've had good success with a 500th which will give you a stop!

[quotePart of her point is that not every photo opportunity requires the heavy iron to serve the purpose of recording the scene for its intended use and audience. [/quote]

...I think the crux is "...not every photo opportunity requires the heavy iron..." which is inherently true. My thought, however, is that if you *have* the heavy iron, you, at very least, have a puncher's chance at success in most, if not all, instances.

As you know, they quit letting you take pro gear to concerts years ago and don’t think anything has changed.
Issues of people selling prints not to mention their size.
But since you mention Stevie Nicks, in early 70’s I went to see Fleetwood Mac in DC. Was right up front with my Minolta SRT 101 and Vivitar zoom lens.

Makes no sense. Why do they care if the jpgs started out as raw only capture? I can see why they don't want gigantic raw files, and certainly jpgs are all a news organization would need, but how the photographer took them originally is a moot point I would think.

...ignorance.

My immediate thought would be to take a high rez photo of that pic..*then* work it in PS. Make sense? I had to scan some olde newspaper material in my dad's scrapbook and they were too big for my scanner...I found a bigger scanner, lol. That was long ago, now I would photograph the items!

UHH owner "Admin" has made it clear that no nudity is allowed anywhere on UHH except the one section designed to display it. UHH owner "Admin" has made it clear that no politics are allowed in General Chit Chat. I couldn't find any specific reference to religious content, however.

Most volunteer-managed sections have guidelines relative to their specialty (such as Black and White not allowing color) and references to courtesy and constructive feedback. I didn't see the post being discussed here, and being a current manager of Digital Artistry and former manager of Post Processing Forum, I'm not going to second-guess the AI Creation manager's decision nor say what I "might" have done.

Admin has shown a willingness to create new sections when someone steps forward to volunteer to manage - hence, our 50+ forums to date So, a new "AI Artistry and Photography - all religions welcomed" might be a possibility.

Bottom line is UHH is a private entity. We are guests.
