Thank you tramsey for your kind comment, glad you like the pictures - and yes, these trees actually work quite well against the bright colors - on the other hand I could see the silhouette of a giraffe also working well.... (eh - do they have giraffes in a circus?)

I normally do get up earlier when I am posting on UHH, but otherwise I am guilty as well - but I was sure lucky on that Christmas Eve morning! - glad to hear you like the array of colors, just too bad my autofocus was not engaged - and in that dim light, I didn't even notice it, probably also didn't chimp.

Wonderful captures, Ken, these second and third shots are a perfect example of the narrow depth of field you were working with - pared with super-sharp rendition of your subjects. I also love your image of the owl in flight.

Thank you Chief for your kind appreciation - I will have to improve my routine after the sensor cleaning exercises - that's basically the only time my camera goes into a stranger's hand - and I very much trust that outfit!
