My wife and I are traveling to Iceland this summer. I have a Peak Design 30L backpack to carry my camera, lenses, etc. I want to hand carry this all the way. What is the process and requirements for getting through airport security with all the gear? Do they require removing everything for inspection! I heard from someone that batteries could be an issue - separate packing?? Any shared experiences would be appreciated. I hope to get a tripod to fit in my checked luggage so that should not be an issue.
My wife and I are traveling to Iceland this summer... (show quote)

I flew to Iceland last November with a fstop bag full...right at the weight limit and size for united airlines...going to Iceland did not have to open bag and had no issue getting it on the plane...coming back to Dulles I was chosen to open my bag...they took out the camera and looked at and the put it back and waved me through...

I had my batteries with their covers on...my biggest issue was lifting that bag into the overhead it was a tight squeeze.

How does everyone like tripod leg wraps on their tripods? Also what brand or where did you purchase them. Thanks

Videos are not the best for everyone. I have severe high frequency hearing loses in both ears. Fast speech patterns and accents can make for very difficult conditions, even with a headset. It depends on the presenter and viewer. I use videos and written "manuals".

I understand...but I did say for me.

For me, video instruction is best..I can start and stop, replay. I initially started with what I think is a very good PS CC tutorial by creativeraw.com and from there found online videos on the areas I wanted to concentrate on. His videos are simple, pretty detailed and he keeps adding to his list. and you can fast forward if you find it a bit wordy or you already know that particular thing. You do have to purchase his series but it is a lifetime purchase. He will also respond to any questions you might have.

Check out Tether Tools
and Alpine Labs also has a solution but for me it was not always a dependable connection.

I spent 10 days in Iceland, 2 of them in the city. as mentioned the Harpa hall. But if you just go out and walk around the city there is a lot to photograph -- churches, Beach, mountains. there is a small bar that has grass for a roof.

As mentioned there are a lot of tourists. It is a beautiful city to just see. and the people are wonderful.

I have the Pulse.

Finally got it after 7 months on order.

Mine had issues and they did work with me and finally sent a new cable which is what I suspected from the beginning.

It still has a few issues with disconnecting and connecting, but I have learned the steps to connect it again.

It is a nifty little device though I have not had the time to work with it.

You can't use live view with it connected so if you use live view to focus, etc you would need to connect it after .

The thumbnail shows well and you get a histogram.

You cannot enlarge the thumbnail.

One can control the ISO, aperture, shutter. Everything has to be in manual and you have to manually focus. I suppose you could use autofocus, focus and turn it off.

Battery life on the device seems very good. I plan on trying to use it over the Christmas holidays just to see what it does and if it stay connected.

We went several years ago, took a cruise around all of the islands so we could see a bit of each. All of the islands are beautiful but I thought that Kauai was the prettiest and "wildest".

No, but I keep my strap on all the time and when I set my camera down it's not stable because it has to set on the tripod attachment.

Thanks!
I agree but other than that I like the br strap
Was just wondering if you attached to the lugs like they say does it get in the way
I had another strap that did that and it bothered me when in portrait orientation.

Does it get in the way when you are in portrait mode?
