Any web cam does not have to be configured for any program. A web cam is just a piece of hardware or tool. Just because you have a hammer in your tool box does not mean you have to use it. Face time is a program and if you don't want to use it then don't. If you want to use the web cam for Face time then configure it in Face time. If you have 2 or more web cams then configure the one you wish the program to use.

Just had a quick look at it and it seems like a somewhat specialized tool. I don't know whether I would use it on a day to day basis but I would probably use it while doing time-lapse and macro work. Max weight is 3 kg (6.7 lbs) and after a few uses I would assume that number will decrease, how much who knows? On a day to day use I don't see how this tool is any better than a ball head mount. But for $39 USD ($50.99 CAD) it could fill up that small empty space in your bag and make you feel good. I'm gonna pass on it..... for now anyway. Guess I'll have to make a small space in my bag o tricks.

Jerry, a word of caution. If you plan a true "clone" then you could transfer the problems as well onto your new drive. I would suggest a simple data copy (copy/paste) which would leave all the errors off your new drive.

Thanks for the reply, not sure I can understand all of it but I'll try.
Operating system is windows 10 latest update
My desktop has 4 internal hard drives; C: operating system and some files the computer places there on it's own. D: data drive ... only contains my personal data, no other files
P: the drive that contains only my pictures in a master folder, catalog folder, saved prints folder and ps auto recover folder F: disk that I store 1 of the backups of the picture master and 1folder for the backups of Data files

I do not plan to use the external drive that I prepared for my trip on a permanent basis ... I'll just use it on this 1 trip, don't know if that makes a difference or not. Once back from this trip I'll continue to use the master picture folder on the P: drive.
Thanks for the reply, not sure I can understand al... (show quote)

In that case, install the external drive on the laptop as your P drive and keep the file structure the same as on the WS-internal, for example if the internal has everything inside a folder called "My Photos" and on the external you call it "Copied Pictures" then LR will be lost and you will, have to re-find all your files. Once done, then make any and all changes. When done, Copy and over write all data on your external to your WS-P drive including catalog. This should give you an up to date catalogue on your WS-P drive. Actually very simple and easy but time consuming copying all that data as you are already aware.

Very easy to do. Open the cat file from the external using the laptop. LR will open and show thumbnails of all photos but will have a ? because LR does not know where your photos are. Of course they are on the external drive but LR thinks they are on the WS internal drive. Right click (or Mac equivalent) on one of the photos and choose "locate file" or equivalent vernacular. Once the single file is found, LR will then update all the missing photos with the new location and Bob's your uncle.

Now the BIG problem... once you make changes on the laptop/external the WS/internal has no way of knowing there are any changes and you end up with outdated data. You have 2 solutions and the first is to plug the external into your WS and use the internal drive as a backup. Using a sync program such as SyncBack will do the job. You also should not have to refind your files as they are still on the external with the same name... Unless you are on a PC and then you have to make sure that both WS and laptop use the same drive letter. (me, I use the letter P for photos)

The 2nd solution is to sync both in and external drives on the WS before you start working on the WS. The drawback to this is that you will probably have to refind your files if using a Mac. If using a PC then if the external is mapped as P on the laptop and you have the internal mapped as P then no problem. Of course the external on the WS will have a different letter as you can't have 2 P drives.

Special note: I strongly suggest to backup (simply make a copy somewhere other than your photos folder) the catalog before doing a sync. On occasion the sync may hiccup and your catalog gets corrupted. It happened to me but as I have multiple backups I had no problem.

Hope this helps.

The word " bald " comes from the old English "balde," meaning white.

I strongly recommend you resize your C partition to 500 Gb instead of the 200 you currently have. You can do this by using MS Computer Management>Disk Management (right click on My Computer/This PC and choose Manage) Then click on Disk Management, when the list populates go to the bottom middle portion where the drives are graphically show and click on D:\, right click and choose Shrink Volume. Shrink it to 1.5 Tb. When done click on the C:\ right click and choose Extend Volume. Extend it to the max permitted (0.5 Tb)

All that said, I can see no useful reason to partition 1 drive into 2. Any serious problem with 1 drive will effect the other and I speak from experience... painful experience. :(

Why not go buy a 500 Gb drive, SSD or regular and clone your C drive onto it and then you can delete your current C drive and extend your D drive to the full 2 Tb.
