The OP set his ISO to 2200. Auto ISO would have saved him

Or shooting RAW. Or better both. Or reading Peterson then using auto ISO and shooting RAW because you now know why.

I will add another if needed. I want to know where to start in the correction process. I am able to adjust with photoshop, but I want to be better. I am shooting with Nikon D500

?? Add "another"? I do not see the first photo?

I will be travelling to Paris next month and Im worried about taking my new Leica.
Unfortunately, Paris has is rife with pickpockets, bag snatchers, and muggins.
It is unfortunate, but still worth going.
At age 67 I would have a problem keeping up with a kid that grabs my camera bag.
My daughter who is travelling with me says the reason to have a camera is to take pictures. I can’t disagree with that.
I would appreciate any opinion from the form Thank you in advance

Why get the camera if you are not goin to use it?

That said, there are a lot of fine anti-theft camera straps and other approaches out there. Thieves recognize them and will pass you by for easier pickings, if you take precautions.

Sure but it is great to move to a new hard drive using an image. It is easy and safe and as you said a backup strategy is a must and having it for free and from a great software better yet.

With an image it would be just a matter to connect the new HD and restore the image made.

If you can get two for the price (and effort) of one, why not?

Cheers

Sure but it is great to move to a new hard drive u... (show quote)

I do not disagree, I just do not want to see the thread hijacked before the OP is satisfied that the issue is solved. And backup strategies is almost as big a hijack cause as RAW vs JPEG.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I have found a shop in the next village that will undertake this for me.

Just first do a scan (or five) through the glass. At least that way you will have something, if it goes bad.

24-85 is just right for that ride, 14-24 won't get you close enough to interesting ground shots from up there.

I have to disagree. Wider is better for this. A zoomed in shot loses context. It is the visual expanse of this experience that is exciting. If you go out to do a landscape, you do not want to come back with a closeup of a pebble.

Hold on! The issue here is not backup. It is about operating drives while using the program. I like a nice backup plan as much as the next geek, but let's not loose focus what the OP needs to know; how switch to a new external drive for using LR.

Thank you for the advice. I am the mom taking the pictures on a flat catamaran boat for a sunset cruise. Starts at 7pm which is still light outside. The cruise is a slow cruise for 2 hours on a open catamaran. No decks no cabins etc. I will use my 50mm 1.8 and give it a shot. I am sure there will be 20 camera phones who will just point and shoot while I try my best for the great shots

OK. Just take the one lens, the 50mm. Shoot RAW and edit later. Shoot what moves you. And stop when you want a Mom drink. Then drink more and tell the ungrateful raise to stick it and get on their lives!!!!

You didn't mention if you are taking on a job, or shooting friends and family. For friends and family it should be easy to get somebody to hold the off camera flash. The 50 F/1.8 will give nice soft mood shots of the happy couple. I would bring the 24 - 70, but it may not be needed.

If this is a professional job ... I'm not sure.

If it is a professional job.....you are in over our head.

Does anyone know of a way to safely separate a photo that has become stuck to the glass in a photo frame? I have some photos that sat undisturbed in my father’s study for at least 25 years, and over time have become stuck to the glass of the frame. I am looking to clean up and update the frame. Any ideas? Thanks.

The best way is to remove the glass and the photo from the frame, clean the glass, lay it on a scanner and scan through the glass. Trying to peal it off is asking for destruction.

That sounds like something the snarky 8th grader in me would have said, back in 1968. The ultimate "mom's cooking" insult...

That was WAY before a kid could get away with "You're not the boss of me!"
In 1968 it sort of went like this "You're not the .....WACK!!!!!!" ("Wack" indicating a backhand slap upside your head.
A slap you should have been ready for.)

How about the kid who didn't like dinner and the mom says "Eat your dinner, there's starving kids in <country>."
The kid responds "Send it to them.".

The child obviously does not appreciate the cost of postage!
