These are such good shots of a beautiful area, howlynn! I enjoyed the downloads!

Thank you Sue. Some call the yampa river canyon the grand canyon of Colorado.

I have and love that lens, looks like it pairs well with the D500 Hmmm. Super job!

Thank you Phil. I took some with the 80-400mm today, should have them posted soon (owls and deer).

Beautiful and impressive shots, Howlynn! I just love the beautiful feather detail on the quail. What kind of quail is it? So pretty!

Thank you for taking a look Donna. The scaled quail do very well in my area. They will run for cover when necessary and only fly when needed.

Great shots, especially the quail and the owl. Look like Nikon nailed it on the D500. And the 300mm prime lens is a perfect enhancer.

Thank you Mas24, This combined setup is 52oz, manageable for me.

I love the 80-400! And with the TC1.4 or the TC1.7, it does really good too!! I have been thinking of up grading the D300s to a D500.:):)

I have a D7100 which when shooting Raw+Jpeg could only get about 12 shots off before the buffer was filled. The buffer on the D500 is great. Happy shooting Erv.

All good - as a "wish I was a golfer" I like the golf shot but the second shot of the owl's face is fantastic.

The owl shots are getting harder as the leaves get bigger. The two owlet's have their flight feathers, so they could be gone any day.

The cropped image is fantastic!!!
The Quail image is nice, but really you are supposed to remove the feathers before putting in the pan :0)

Thank you for taking a look Frank. The quail are really tasty, most hunters only remove the breasts. That pan is plenty rusty and holds up well to all the abuse the deer do to it.

Beautiful area!!
How rough is the road to get there?
Pat

Thank you Jay, 4 wheel drive recommended and when it rains and gets wet the dirt turns to slippery mud. The road then becomes impassable. We went in from the west and left going east for about 45 miles of dirt road.
